What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Cantilever bridges are placed when there are healthy teeth only on one side of the bridge. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. These bridges are placed when several implants are surgically inserted.

Is fitting dental bridges painful?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

When can I travel by air after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.

How long does recovery after fitting dental bridges take?

If patients feel pain or sensitivity after a dental bridge is fitted, they should recover within a week.

How do I care for my teeth after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to fitting dental bridges?

Some alternatives to dental bridges are partial dentures or removable dentures.

How do you spell hero, that's very easy: Oasis Dental Group located in Algodones Mexico a dental office with astute knowledge of the industry, a dental office with knowledge and master the art of dentistry, with a sense of humor and to do what is right at all times with outstanding results, prices, professionalism friendly attitude looks to satisfy their customers and get superior results. Let me tell you about my experience: we live in Tampa Bay Florida area. The prices they quoted were insanely High. So against all family members on both sides going to Mexico because of safety concerns. I called the city commerce of Yuma Arizona and also called the Arizona border agents and got back only positive feedback from all of them. The Oasis staff and dentist are top-notch (5 Stars) professionals and very friendly and bilingual my wife received better care and dental work for far less than you would pay in the United States. Note: By the way the dentist office and equipment was state-of-the-art and extremely clean, you will be very impressed soon as you walk in. You are more than welcome to contact me for questions you may have. Additionally, my wife had a total of 10 root canals, 6 extraction, and deep cleaning gum surgery and 25 zirconia crowns. Bottom line from when we first walk in with Christina being unsure of the outcome left with a million dollors smile😁 Thanks to the Oasis Dental Group and their staff. P.S. Special thanks to Deeo (Assistant Administrator) because of his help front the first phone call and being fluent in both English and Spanish made us feel at home with his hospitality. Sincerely, Daniel and Christina Outstanding 👌🏆🎆🎆🎆🎆🎆

Rating from 50 Reviews The dentist is pretty good. His English is excellent and he has great bedside manner tooNadene, Hong Kong SAR, 31 May 18

I chose this dentist because of a friend’s referral and I’ve been to him quite a few times now. I’ve had general check-ups as well as fillings and today I had my crown replaced. The treatment is quite expensive, but I live in Hong Kong where the cost of living is generally high. I don’t think really think it’s value for money, but he is a very good dentist and we’re very happy with the service. Because it was just a standard filling, I didn’t have to go back for follow-ups, but I have his details so I can return if I feel the need to. The dentist is pretty good. His English is excellent and he has great bedside manner too. The rates are not higher than other private dentists here - I think it’s the standard price.

Medlife Group - Dentist

(360) 317-0161 İzmir, Turkey
Rating from 17 Reviews As it turns out, it was the best decision I could have madeSamantha, UK, 16 Jan 19

I had 3 extractions, 5 implants fitted with a 12 piece crown bridge fixed to my top jaw. I also had a 12 piece crown bridge fitted to my bottom jaw over my existing teeth. All carried out with first class care. My ‘Implant journey’ began in 2016 where I had an appointment/assessment with a U.K. dentist & the cost of having the work done at home just wasn’t an option. I then started to look elsewhere and stumbled across the ‘whatclinic’ website. After having carried out a fair amount of research on various clinics all around Europe I decided that I felt most comfortable with the Medlife clinic in Turkey and as it turns out, it was the best decision I could have made. I had had an initial appointment with another Turkish dental practice that had a clinic in London used for initial assessment prior to travelling to Turkey, where a panoramic x-ray of my teeth/jaws was taken. I also contacted Medlife via the ‘whatclinic’ website and received a call and email from Onur within a very short time. Any questions I had were answered promptly and without trying to blind me with science. Onur provided invaluable in helping advise on flights, arrange accommodation, airport transfers and dental appointments (accommodation & transfers were included in the cost plan where the cost of the treatment was over a certain amount at that time). To dispel any fears I may have had at any time throughout the whole process. I emailed the panoramic x-ray I'd had taken in London to Medlife, then I received a cost plan based on the x-ray the following afternoon at around a third of the cost it would be in the U.K. My first appointment with the Medlife was in September where I was greeted at the airport by their driver and was taken to my hotel. The next day another lady from Medlife picked me up and together we went to see my dentists. I was welcomed by a smiling receptionist & in fact, all the staff were very welcoming. The doctors spoke great English & just as important, actually listened to my concerns & explained clearly the best option for treatment. I was quite nervous at first but was quite quickly put at ease. I had the initial preparation work done, the necessary extractions, Implants fitted & temporary bridges fixed over a period of around 4 or 5 days (can’t remember exactly). I then returned to the U.K for around 3 months to allow everything to heal. I returned to Turkey in December for the final treatment and was there for 7 days in total. My temporary bridges were removed, an impression was taken of the top jaw with implants & the bottom teeth were prepared ready for crowns also. Bridges were fitted and doctors helped me make adjustments until I was completely happy with the finished result. I have lived with my implants for about a month now and I’m just so pleased with them. I think it’s safe to say, my teeth have ‘never’ looked so good and I will be eternally grateful to all the Doctors, Nurses, technicians and everyone involved with the Medlife Group, Turkey. I’m not pretending it was a pleasant experience & after the anaesthetic wore off I did experience some pain & discomfort for a couple of hours on the first visit which is to be expected I suppose as after all, it is quite an invasive procedure, but it was to prove all worth it in the end. The doctors are clearly very skilled in their field & are very sympathetic during the treatment. I don’t hesitate to recommend the practice to anyone that asks me when they see my amazing new teeth. The total cost of the treatment was approximately £6,000 which was around a third of the cost in the U.K. at that time. A big thank you to you all.

Dr. Alejandro Benitez Dental Clinic

Nuevo Progreso, Mexico
Rating from 85 Reviews Every detail about the cost was very clearly explainedKeith, Bayonne, NJ (NYC area), 18 Jul 18

I needed extensive dental work done and I do not have any insurance. A good friend of mine used this clinic and recommended it. My work involved a comprehensive dental examination and subsequent plan to address: 1 tooth extraction (it could not be saved), 3 small cavities, 4 to 5 roots canals, 5 crowns and 1 permanent bridge with required to more "anchor" crowns. I'm from the NYC area and flew into Houston and then drove to stay in a hotel on the Texas side of the border. It's so easy to get to the clinic. You drive to the border and just before the international bridge on the right is a large parking lot that costs $2. Then you pay your 50 cents pedestrian toll to walk across the 500-foot long bridge and the Benitez clinic is about 200 feet down the street on the left side. All my work was done in 4 days with an average of 4 hours each day in the chair. In the USA all of this work would have cost me about $16,000 and it was all done at the Benitez clinic for $4,300 (would have been even less but I opted for the more expensive crown material which added $1,000). My first interaction with the clinic was calling from home and I spoke with Abby. Had it not been for her professionalism and ability to answer any question I had, I would not have made the trip. This clinic knows how important it is to have a capable, responsible and knowledgeable "front of house" patient manager. After the full examination, knowing I was only there for 6 days, Dr Benitez and his team put together a plan for all of the work I needed. Every detail about the cost was very clearly explained, no shock or surprises, just a clear explanation. While this is one of the more expensive clinics in Nuevo Progreso. It's clear why I have no regrets or reservation about recommending Dr Benitez and his team to anyone.

Rating from 113 Reviews Everyone was very nice and caringRandi, US, 13 Dec 16

Well I had many choices for what needed to be done. They suggested 4 implants but just not ready to have someone drill into my jaw bone. Good news is that if I decide to have implants at a later day it can be done. For now anyway 5 1/2 hours of work. 2 Extractions, 1 bone graft post and 9 crowns. 1 root canal, full xrays, 1 four teeth bridge (attached to one molar and one bicuspid with two missing teeth in the middle) 1 bridge that is anchored by 2 teeth and then 1 attached bridge tooth attached to anchored teeth because there is no molar to attach it to. Decided to go with Zirconium Crowns since they are stronger and would need the support for chewing. One of the crowns is on the upper front (I had a broken tooth there) they replaced the 3 old crowns in that 9 that had lost their seal. The extractions that I had done were to the pulp and couldn't be saved. Everyone was very nice and caring. The place was very clean and up to date. The xrays were the best ever. They did not try to jam the hard edge plastic things in your mouth that slice into your mouth. They take the xray and show you right on the computer screen. They suggested treatment plans and discussed my ideas too. I did not feel pressured to choose. Anyway final cost was $4030.00. Having the many hours of work and holding my mouth open I did start to have one of my anxiety attacks and had to take a break to take a pill. I lasted until the last hour but just couldn't go on without the anxiety attack and stiff jaw. I am done for today and have tomorrow off to take care of myself while they make my crowns and bridges. I have an appointment at 10:30 am on Wednesday to finish. Dr. Jimenez was alway concerned if I felt any pain and gave me plenty of novacaine. The initial shot is never any fun but didn't last long. I don't have any pain right now but of course I took the prescribed pain pill and anti-inflammatory. I started on antibiotics four days ago and he told me to continue for three more days. He did prescribe some antibiotic too. He did tell me I will be sore for a few days but so far it is ok.
