Reviews Policy
We believe reviews should be genuine, original, relevant, and useful to others. Reviews should not be malicious, offensive, or deliberately harmful.
Over 1 million people use our site every month to find and compare clinics. The reviews people share are really important to others who are trying to choose a clinic.
How does it work?
- Write your review
Share your experience in English. Reviews with photos are the most helpful. - Verify your review
We’ll verify your review via phone, email, or by matching it to a confirmed enquiry on our site. Only verified reviews are considered for moderation. - Moderation
All verified reviews are moderated before being considered for publication to ensure they meet our guidelines. This process usually takes a few days, but can take up to 15 business days.
These are the guidelines for our reviews:
If your review does not meet the following review policy guidelines, it will not be published. WhatClinic also reserves the right to remove, without notification, any review at any time for any reason.
Language
We currently moderate and publish only reviews submitted in English. Reviews submitted in other languages will not be moderated or published.
Genuine
- Only genuine patients who have been treated at a clinic listed on our site can leave a review about their experience
- Valid contact details are required to submit a review. These details are used solely for verification purposes and are never published.
- Reviews cannot be submitted using invalid contact information, or those belonging to someone else.
- Reviews cannot be submitted by clinic staff, associates, or competitors.
Original
- We’re all fans of recycling at WhatClinic, but not when it comes to reviews! If your review has been published elsewhere, we cannot accept it, so please write something original for our site.
Relevant
Reviews should focus on your personal experience with the clinic and the treatment you received.
Include key facts that are most relevant to other patients, such as:
- What treatment you had and your reasons for choosing it
- Why you selected this clinic
- The cost of the treatment and whether you felt it offered good value
Useful
The best reviews go beyond the basic facts and describe your experience in a way that helps others understand what to expect.
A helpful review might include:
- How the process went (e.g. booking, consultation, treatment, aftercare)
- What stood out during your experience
- Whether the outcome met your expectations
Adding photos can make your review even more useful and engaging.
Review & feedback guidelines:
Legal
- We cannot publish claims about the accuracy of a clinic’s treatment or diagnosis. Those are factual matters, and would require extensive medical verification.
- The review cannot be defamatory in any way under Irish Law, despite the place of residence of a reviewed clinic, as WhatClinic is an online medical directory registered in Ireland.
- Allegations of criminal activity or medical negligence should be reported to the proper authorities. We have no authority over clinics listed on our site.
- If there are any ongoing legal proceedings between the reviewer and the clinic we will not publish the review as this can interfere with those proceedings.
- The review must relate to a treatment you have had at the clinic in question.
- We cannot include hearsay in a review. This means information that cannot be substantiated, for example, the report of another person’s words.
- You must be over 18 years old to leave a review.
- You must have been a patient at the clinic yourself and personally undergone the treatment being reviewed.
- A legal guardian may leave a review on behalf of a patient however no personal information about the patient that could lead to them being identified, either directly or indirectly, can be included in the review.
- You are publishing a review and it is your responsibility to ensure that it is accurate and not misleading as posting false information can have legal ramifications, whether the review is positive or negative in tone.
- You are reviewing your treatment at the clinic in question, not any individual at the clinic. Specifically, there should be no personal insults or accusations in your review.
Privacy
- Reviews must not include any contact information.
- The review cannot mention staff members by name, only the business.
False reviews
- We do not permit false or misleading reviews.
- Clinic owners must not write reviews themselves or encourage staff, associates, or others to do so on their behalf.
- Clinics must not pressure or incentivise patients to submit reviews.
- False or misleading reviews will be deleted, and the clinic in question may be removed from WhatClinic’s listings.
- We use a combination of automated and manual checks, including IP tracking, geo-coding, and detection of unusual submission patterns, to identify and remove false reviews.
- Reviews that appear automated, duplicated, or generated (including AI-generated content) will be rejected.
If your review breaks any of these guidelines it will not be published. WhatClinic also reserves the right to remove, without notification, any review at any time for any reason.
Your Privacy
When you write a review, we will display only your name and country. Your verification details (email, phone number, and IP address) are stored safely and securely and will never be displayed to the public. We reserve the right to call, email, or text you to verify details or to ask for more information, to improve the quality of the review.
Verification
Reviews must be linked to a real patient experience with a clinic listed on our platform.
We verify reviewers via phone, email, or by matching the review to a confirmed enquiry submitted through our site.
Only reviews that can be successfully verified are considered for moderation and publication. We may follow up for additional information if needed.
