What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Cantilever bridges are placed when there are healthy teeth only on one side of the bridge. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. These bridges are placed when several implants are surgically inserted.

Is fitting dental bridges painful?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

When can I travel by air after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.

How long does recovery after fitting dental bridges take?

If patients feel pain or sensitivity after a dental bridge is fitted, they should recover within a week.

How do I care for my teeth after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to fitting dental bridges?

Some alternatives to dental bridges are partial dentures or removable dentures.

Rating from 11 Reviews I experienced efficiency, care, understanding, kindness, and professionalism of the highest degreeAnthony, Thailand, 01 12 18

A very professional Dental Clinic. As an expatriate now living in Chiang Mai I did some research and chose Kitcha Dental Clinic to do some dental work on my teeth. The doctor I chose from the clinic was Dr Pawak. On my first visit armed with an x-ray, Dr Pawak inspected each tooth at length to ensure no cavity or disease was missed. Following this, he recommended two options I could consider either doing implants or a bridge. In addition, associated costs (involving different materials) were also clearly communicated along with the advantages/disadvantages of durability between the two options before proceeding with the treatment. I experienced efficiency, care, understanding, kindness, and professionalism of the highest degree. The doctor did not rush through and made sure the anaesthesia took effect to minimize the sensitivity involved with dental treatment. In summary, I found Dr Pawak to be accommodating, knowledgeable, experienced and caring. Now to the Clinic:-The premises are in a great area of the city with private parking facilities and easy access by public transport. The layout of the Clinic is of high quality paying attention to the needs of the patients and the medical staff including Ramps and lift access to patients in wheelchairs. Clear Signage to assist and allow patients to navigate throughout the premises. Attention to detail to is very visible regards to cleanliness and sanitation facilities. The front desk staff, Nui, Phaeng & Nueng, in particular, were very professional, efficient, friendly, and helpful in arranging, following up and sending reminders about my three visits to the clinic. In summary, my experience of Kitcha Dental Clinic is, it functioned as a “well-oiled machine”. All my appointments ran on time. I am fully satisfied with the final result and highly recommend Dr Pawak. I wish to thank Dr Pawak and the staff of the clinic and wish the Clinic well for the future. Best Regards Anthony (Frank Rodrigo)

Rating from 5 Reviews Root canal on back tooth and a crownNeil, Australia, 12 08 15

I had to have root canal on one of my back teeth and get a crown. They were very quick to respond via email and I setup an appointment before I got to Phuket. The first appointment I had they had a root canal specialist do the work on my tooth which took about an hour and a half. After that I waited about an hour and then the crown specialist came and spent another 2 hours or so doing what he needed to do. Both specialists were very professional and extremely accommodating. Even though this took a long time my full root canal treatment was complete and I just had to wait for my permanent crown to be made and then fitted in a follow up treatment in about 5 days time. This appointment only took about 45 mins and it was all done. Brilliant, definitely recommend! I was recommended Tooth Town by an expat that lives in Phuket. It was a very professional establishment, very clean and smart and everyone was extremely friendly and professional. Thank you very much. I'll be back!
