What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth coloured coverings also known as porcelain laminates used to cover the front of the tooth. They are placed to improve the appearance of smiles by changing the colour, length or size of teeth. The porcelain used to make the veneers is of a high quality and is generally long lasting.

What is the difference between Porcelain Veneers and Dental Crowns?

Porcelain veneers are only used to cosmetically correct the appearance of smiles. They only cover the front portion of the tooth. Dental crowns cover the entire tooth and are used to cover damaged teeth. Crowns are also placed over surgically inserted dental implants. Crowns are thicker than veneers. Some patients may feel a little soreness or sensitivity for a few days after the anaesthesia wears off.
