What are Mini Implants?

Mini implants are small screws measuring 1.8 to 3mm that can be placed in one day for patients. They also act as a tooth root and can retain crowns and bridges. Placing a mini implant is a minimally invasive procedure. The patient’s existing denture is placed on the implants or a new denture is fabricated.  Mini implants do not need as much bone structure as regular implants. If you go here, there is a bell to ring rather than just enter the premises. Why the receptionist didn't just open the door when I was trying to get in I do not know. I went for a consultation to see what the best option was for a missing tooth. You pay before you go. The staff were friendly. The dentist is lovely putting me at ease, explaining what he was doing whilst teaching his staff at the same time. Nice manner about him. He then took the time to show me what options were available to me and how much each would cost. The clinic was state of the art, modern with the latest tech to make the job easier. The view was stunning. I would recommend the experience to others.

Dental implants are the best option for replacing your missing teeth. In fact, dental implants are the latest dental replacements dentistry can offer. However, even though they function and feel just like natural teeth and do not suffer from the weaknesses of the other options, they are expensive and are not affordable by everyone. Although, as per my thinking dental implants are still quite cost effective in view of the quality of life they permit. Grinding down of the adjacent teeth is not required. - Maryland bridges or resin-bonded bridges are used where too much chewing stress is not expected, ie, in restoring a lost front tooth. - Replacing multiple teeth: If you want to replace just one or two teeth a fixed bridge is possible as alternative to implants. - Replacing all teeth: The alternative to implants is the complete removable denture (conventional denture).

Dental Implants: the process of osseointegration is the real secret behind the success of dental implants. Osseointegration is a natural process that is as important to the success of the dental (and other implants) as the story of its discovery is interesting. Like many very useful scientific discoveries, the process of what we now call osseointegration also came to light by chance. It was in 1940, almost a century ago, that Bothe and colleagues were experimenting with titanium as a prosthesis material for fractures in animal legs. Since that time, osseointegration has been studied extensively. As of 2016, titanium alloys are the preferred choice for dental implants and other surgical implants. The alloying is done to modify the mechanical properties of titanium as desired. Bone cells grow onto the surface of the metal, and the bond is mature in three to six months. It is for this reason that in routine implant placement procedures, dentists like to give a gap of about three to six months after installation of implants before a prosthesis is built over them. When implants are loaded in a single day, the dentists advise patients not to burden their implants with hard food initially. We shall discuss more conventional and same-day implant loading in more detail in the preceding chapters.
