Scar removal is a term used for surgical and nonsurgical procedures used to reduce the visibility of scars on the face and body.

Are Scar Removal procedures painful?

Nonsurgical scar removal procedures are not painful. Scar revision surgery and laser scar removal procedures are performed after administration of a local anaesthetic or sedation. Patients will not feel pain during the procedure.   

When can I travel by air after Scar Removal?

Patients should wait one to two weeks after scar revision surgery or laser assisted scar removal procedures before travelling by air. They should get a certification of being fit to travel by air from their doctor before embarking on their journey.

How long does recovery take after a Scar Removal procedure?

Recovery after surgical scar revision procedures and laser assisted scar removal procedures generally take two to three weeks.

What after care is required after a Scar Removal procedure?

Patients should take all prescribed medications correctly and eat a balanced diet with plenty of raw vegetables and fruit. They should not smoke or drink alcohol for at least a month. They should avoid strenuous exercises and lifting heavy objects for at least a month. Patients who have undergone a laser scar removal procedure should apply all prescribed topical medications correctly.

How does it work? The concept behind needling is the stimulation of new collagen production in your skin. The needle breaks the skin and causes micro-trauma and micro-inflammation. Your body responds by sending blood to the area for healing. As your skin repairs itself, new collagen builds up just below the surface. The wrinkles, lines, or depressed scars plump from the bottom-up without the use of anything artificial. Repeated needling sessions gradually and continually build new collagen to fill-in the treated areas. The gentle stimulus provided by Micro Needling is far more “skin friendly” and thus far more effective than many other more invasive and more expensive skin treatments. Micro-channels seal within hours after application: long enough for new collagen-structures to form within the lower layers of the skin and short enough to allow you to resume normal schedules quickly. This appears to be the end of the story. But it isn’t. Underneath the skin’s surface, much more is going on. In fact, the healing response which begins immediately upon the injury kick-starts a healing process that last for several months, and up to a year.
