What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are artificial screws made of titanium or zirconium oxide that connect the jawbone and a dental restoration like a crown or denture. They are also called ‘endosseous’ implants or fixtures. They are an artificial tooth root. Once implanted, the implant integrates with the surrounding bone like part of the body. Recovery time after a dental implant procedure may take four to six weeks or up to 12 weeks for some patients. Patients can travel one day after the insertion of a single dental implant. Patients who require multiple dental implants or supporting surgical procedures should wait for around two weeks before travelling. They should meet the dental surgeon to get a certification of being fit to travel before embarking on their journey.

Hi, Gate Clinic Galway is a great place to go take care of your teeth. The team on duty was very professional, gentle, and kind to me. They explained very well what was going on and what to do in order to keep my teeth healthy. Jeannis was so courteous and very kind. She got me the appointment so quickly and assisted me to fill out the form. Hygienist Blaithin did a great job with my teeth, she took her time, and didn't rush. Nurse Patricia was very attentive and friendly. The end result was impeccable. They made me fell comfortable. They all showed excellent consumer service. I'm definitely coming back so soon. The clinic was very clean by the way. Highly recommended

This is a superb dental clinic. My daughter had a very dark tooth from prev damage in front of her mouth and attended this clinic. To say a good job was done would be an understatement - it was superb - gave her back her confidence to smile now. Brilliant practice and would highly recommend.

I’m a nervous patient with gum disease. Due to Covid, it had been nearly a year since my last visit to the hygienist. I was expecting pain and discomfort and the usual lecture. Well, I was wrong.. Shauna, the hygienist, was amazing… I got pain-free but thoroughly clean and polished. The usual advice was delivered in sympathetic, non-hectoring tones. I’ll be back!
