What is a Dental X-Ray?

Dental X-rays are procedures where photographs of the teeth and mouth are taken to diagnose dental and oral disease or adverse dental conditions. An extensive examination of the patient’s mouth and teeth is done on the first visit to a dentist. This usually involves the use of X-rays. X-rays help dentists detect dental and oral problems that are not easily visible to the naked eye.

How is a Dental X-Ray performed?

Dental X-rays are either intra-oral or extra-oral. The film is placed outside the mouth and the image is taken for an extra-oral X-ray. The film is placed inside the mouth and the image is taken for an intra-oral X-ray. Depending on the machine used, patients may feel pressure on their cheek for a few moments when the dentist focuses the camera.

What does a Dental X-Ray show?

X-rays allow the dentist to see, bone loss, gum disease, dental infections, positioning of wisdom teeth, oral cysts or abscesses, tumours, jaw fractures and foreign objects in the mouth or teeth.

Are Dental X-Rays safe?

Dental X-rays are the safest among X-rays and patients are exposed to very little radiation. Dentists use digital X-rays that are less harmful than traditional X-rays. Patients should tell the dentist about any existing health condition or if they are pregnant.  The dentist will not use X-rays to risk the health of patients unless absolutely necessary.

What are the alternatives to taking a Dental X-Ray?

Alternatives to the dental X-ray include Cari vu, a diagnostic device using transillumination technology and the Diagnodent laser assisted diagnostic device.

He explained various options I could choose as I am a cancer survivorGail, US, 12 03 18

I had teeth cleaning with Dr. Lopez. He did an excellent job and after I asked him to check on a couple of places I was getting pain. He did some X-rays (free of charge) and explained that I needed to remove an old gold crown as it appeared I had a cavity under the crown. He explained various options I could choose as I am a cancer survivor and do not believe in root canals. He also advised not to take any action until the pain was unbearable as it was between 2 upper wisdom teeth. I am a previous patient but I found the clinic had been renovated since I was last here (April1, 2016). It was very clean with friendly staff who phoned me the day before to remind me of my appointment.

Dental X-Ray
Dental X-ray examinations provide valuable information that helps your dentist evaluate your oral health. With the help of radiographs (the term for pictures taken with X-rays), your dentist can look at what is happening beneath the surface of your teeth and gums. If you have questions about your dental X-ray exam, talk with your dentist.
Digital Dental X-Ray free
Dental x-rays are critical for many reasons. They allow a dentist to detect tooth decay, abscessed or impacted teeth, and simply overall tooth density and health of current fillings, crowns, etc. They can also indicate if someone is in the early stages of gum disease and can help a dentist take preventative measures in addressing the problem.Digital x-rays are one of the newest and most innovative forms of x-ray imaging. This is an alternative to traditional photographic film used for x-ray purposes. There are many advantages to this alternative procedure, especially in the field of dentistry. One main advantage is that there is less radiation exposure to the patient. Another advantage is simply the efficiency in transferring and enhancing images, which makes it easier to go over with the results with the patient.Digital dental x-rays are an important innovation that has led the way for safer and more efficient preventative dental care.
Digital Panoramic Dental X-Ray from $50
A panoramic x-ray requires a special machine that rotates around the head. The x-ray captures the entire jaws and teeth in one shot. It is used to plan treatment for dental implants, check for impacted wisdom teeth, and detect jaw problems. A panoramic x-ray is not good for detecting cavities, unless the decay is very advanced and deep.In addition, many dentists are taking x-rays using digital technology. The image runs through a computer. The amount of radiation transmitted during the procedure is less than traditional methods

What more can I say they are simply top notch!Dorn, California, 28 11 16

My trip to Algodones Mexico began with my local dentist here in Northern California,Napa ,to be exact, quoted me a price of something around $10,000 to do one implant which would support a small 2 tooth bridge Plus a root canal and one crown on another tooth. The lady in charge of administering our pension fund medical benefits, when asked to consult on this issue, mentioned that her husband had trouble to Mexico and received excellent dental work which would've cost approximately $45,000 here in California for approximately $7500 in Mexico . I begin to research possibilities for dental care in Mexico and eventually through many phone calls and the help of people at the confident smile dental studios and the ladies at the online web service named dental departures I was able to set up a consultation appointment with Dr. Daniel Gaspar I traveled to Mexico And did a full consultation with the doctor. It was determined that I needed six implants to in some cases replace teeth and in other places firmly anchored in a new bridge where an existing bridge was old and tired. I was so impressed with the quality of the work and the ability of the staff to share their thinking with me and point out other ways to improve the dental health of my mouth that I eventually did more work in terms of replacing old crowns with new crowns doing a root canal's were they could work proactively to maintain my dental health. Eventually I was able to do a full mouth restoration and my teeth are strong healthy, and attractive. If I had done this work here in the United States it would have cost between 40 and $50,000 as it turns Out this work eventually caused about 9500 in Mexico. I receive $3000 in Delta dental benefits each year and have been able to use almost the entire amount over A two-year span. Therefore my 40,000two $50,000 dental bill here in the states ended up being about 3500 to myself doing the work in Mexico. The entire staff of this dental facility have become like old friends or as they say in Hawaii,Kamahina. I did make five separate trips to Mexico for this work which for me was easy because I'm a retired person this might be a problem for someone with tight time constraints but the amount of money saved in the quality of the work would make me figure out how to do this even where I'm not retired. I am going to return to this dentist every six months for a cleaning and check ups since I just don't want to deal owith American dentist any longer because of their extravagant prices and because they do not offer the same levels of care care and service that I received at confidence smile studios What more can I say they are simply top notch!

I would definetly go back, I've been very happy with both of the MRI's I've had done thereKelly, San c, 15 09 16

I had an MRI of my cervical spine and this is the second MRI I've had done here. I'm trying to determine if the issues I'm having are from degeneration in my neck or more alignment problems. This clinic does a good job and everyone are very nice, but remember it is Mexico and everything is not "new and shiny" like in the states. There are several people that speak some English, and if you speak some Spanish it will be helpful but not necessary. You check in and pay at the office on Javier Mina and then a driver brings you to another office a few blocks away where you get the MRI. When your finished the same driver brings you and the disc of your MRI back to the first office where ther doctor will read and make the report right then. Total its 3-4 hours if you wait for the report, which I did the first time. Yesterday I asked if they could email me the report ( which is in Spanish) and they made films of my MRI and copied the disc in ten minute for me to take so it was only 2 hours. The report was in my email by the time I got home and now I will translate it. For $227, which is less than my copayment with Blue Cross and not having to wait more time to get approval it is a great deal. If if I do have degeneration I'm planning on getting [Treatment name removed] treatment from another doctor in Ensenada I would definetly go back, I've been very happy with both of the MRI's I've had done there.
