I decided at the age of 50 to have breast implants and was recommended Mr Awf Quaba who specialised in this field. My operation took place at the Murrayfield Spire and I was well looked after before and after my operation. Unfortunately, 4 years on I was getting breast implant illness symptoms, I was in a lot of discomfort in the breast area, had hair thinning, anxiety, ocular migraine headaches and development an autoimmune disease which had to be treated by Prednisolone. After reading about BII I decided in 2021 to see Mr Quaba once again to get his advice. I must say he was very understanding and told me the pros and cons of getting a full capsulectomy which removes the implants and capsules surrounding them. In October 2021 I was booked into the Shawfair Spire Hospital and Mr Quaba performed by full capsulectomy which was very successful. 6 months down the line I am feeling so much better with no breast pain, hair has got thicker and no ocular migraine headaches. I am also down to 2mg of steriods and my neck and shoulder pain has almost gone with my scars hardly visible. I can honestly say Mr Quaba has looked after me so well and I would highly recommend anyone who is considering explant surgery to seek advice from such a professional. These are not cheap procedures but all in all it was well worth the money to get my health back!
