Very welcoming, kind, listened, took on board everything I had to sayKN, Ireland, 27 03 20

I attended Brian for 10 sessions. I was at a place in my life where I needed to talk to someone who could give me non-judgemental advise and coach me on how to deal with issues that I was faced with. Before I rang to make the first appointment I read through the reviews because I wanted to speak to somebody that was good and not waste my time. All the reviews were spot on. Brian was exactly the person everyone had said he was. Very welcoming, kind, listened, took on board everything I had to say and gave me the best advice but not only that he opened my eyes to a lot of things. I’ll be forever great full to Brian as his help really changed my life around. I would highly recommend him.

At some time or another we all face difficulties and challenges in our lives. At times these troubles can feel overwhelming leaving us feeling helpless and alone. People seek therapy for many different issues such as Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Panic Attacks, Loss, Bereavement or Addiction issues. At other times people have issues which are deeply entrenched, that have been ‘bubbling away’ for some time and are now seeking attention. Talking with an accredited therapist can help alleviate the stress and help a person learn to cope with their situation in a better way.

I felt very supported in resolving my issues for myselfCiara, Dublin, 11 10 20

I would highly recommend Renata, her approach helped me back on my feet after a tough patch and I feel like a new, wiser, more awake person! I came to Renata after I had had other sessions with other counsellors/psychologist and I just didn't click with them. I had just had an experience in my life that left me overwhelmed and lost. After 6 months with Renata I was solidly back on my feet and I still check in now to look after my mental health. I leave all the interactions we have felt more aware and more motivated, I cry, I learn and I laugh in each session. Renata has a very gentle approach but she gets deep to the root of problems and offers valuable, practical solutions to work through them, I felt very supported in resolving my issues for myself! I would highly recommend to anyone who feels a bit lost and doesn't know where to start!

Young adult Psychotherapy
What is psychotherapy? Psychotherapy is the treatment of psychological, emotional, or behavior disorders through the communications between the client and a therapist. The goal of therapy is to establish a central relationship of trust in which the client or patient can feel free to express personal thoughts and emotions and thus gain insight into his condition and generally share in the healing power of words. (Britannica) Will it work for me? Many people feel a great deal of benefit from psychotherapy, some even after comparatively few meetings. Like any other treatment or life experience, psychotherapy may not be suitable for everyone. Each individual has to make up their own mind about whether therapy is helpful for them. Clinical experience shows that if you are motivated and set yourself realistic goals, psychotherapy is likely to be of benefit. How long will it take? The length of treatment will be determined by what you are offered following assessment. How often are the sessions? Most psychotherapy is once weekly, although sometimes client’s circumstances won’t allow for this, so an alternative arrangement will be made. How long does each session last? Individual psychotherapy sessions normally last fifty minutes. How much does it cost? A one on one session costs E85.00. What benefit should I feel afterwards? Research has shown that psychotherapy is effective in reducing symptoms, improving relationships and self esteem. However, as each person is an individual it is difficult to generalize at the beginning as to which benefits a person may feel. The exploration and the journey is often as important as the goal. Does it usually work? A great deal of research has been done which shows C.B.T to be effective. However, it only works as a catalyst with the person undergoing treatment. This means that in order for therapy to be effective, the "work" is not done to you - but by you and with you.Can I stop if I feel its not working? It is always possible to leav
CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive therapy seeks to help the client overcome difficulties by identifying and changing there thinking errors, behaviour, and emotions. This involves helping patients develop skills to change beliefs, identifying thinking errors and changing behaviours. Treatment is based the collaboration between the client and the therapist. Once those thoughts have been challenged, your feelings are easier to change. I believe that most people can overcome any emotional disability by ‘Working harder’. So be prepared for some homework, as C.B.T does require you the client to record your progress and challenge your behaviour in between sessions. But it’s not just about working harder; I will help you to ‘work clever’. The techniques of C.B.T will allow you to see your world from a new angle and this often brings relief and a new found ability to change behaviour that up until now, you may have felt would never change.

I am in a very different place now to when I started therapy with herAoife, Ireland, 22 09 21

Bernie is an excellent counsellor. Bernie created a safe and comfortable environment where I could openly speak about difficulties that I was experiencing without any judgement at all. Bernie is specifically good at unearthing the reasons why we feel a particular way - may it be childhood, or a specific experience in your past. After a couple of sessions with Bernie, I realised I was speaking about things that I thought were totally unrelated to what I was currently going through but Bernie was able to piece together how certain thoughts and anxieties are formed. I seen Bernie for a period of 6 months and I am in a very different place now to when I started therapy with her. I would highly recommend.

Owen Smith - Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapist & Counsellor (M.Soc.Sc.  BA(Hons)  PostGrad Dip.   H.Dip.SP.) Hi! I'm Owen, a humanistic & integrative psychotherapist and counsellor. I work with a broad range of issues.  However I also specialise in LGBTQ+ and Gender, Sexual & Relationship Diversities (GSRD) therapy.  This means that I will provide full acceptance of who you are, regardless of how you identify. I view no person or issue as being more important than another. I see both of us working together as unique individuals.  I've seen how life can throw many different challenges which can cause us to question our sense of self. Yet I also believe that such challenges can offer us opportunities to develop and grow - perhaps even flourish! I work in collaboration with you, on your well-being journey. My aim is to help you find a better sense of who you are.  This is done in a safe & confidential space where you are listened to, heard and where you feel accepted for being yourself. What you bring, I feel we will be able to explore together, leading to greater self-acceptance & better inner peace Of course contacting a counsellor or therapist can feel daunting. I invite you to click on the link to my website, where you can learn a little about me and where you can see if you think I may be a good fit for you. If and when you are ready, feel free to get in touch, where we can have a brief chat and to see how I can help you on your well-being journey.
