Easy to talk to and an impressive way of approaching complex issuesMary, Ireland, 19 05 17

I attended Healing Minds for a number of months last year. I was going through a very dark time and felt isolated and alone. I was met in a very warm and welcoming way with no judgement. I found it very safe to share and explore due to Brendan's gentle and empathic approach. I would highly recommend his practice as it helped me through the darker stages of my life. I highly recommend Brendan and his way of working with vulnerable people. Fantastic, warm and friendly attitude and made me feel very relaxed. Easy to talk to and an impressive way of approaching complex issues.

I qualified as an Integrative Psychotherapist from DBS with a BA(Hons).   This degree included a range of psychotherapies that allow me to tailor fit the therapy to meet the need of each individual.  Theoretical approaches included CBT, Person-centered, Attachment & Loss, Trauma & Childhood Trauma, Psychodynamics, Existential and Family Systems. Psychotherapy offers the opportunity to better understand ourselves and how we live.  It can be the difference between surviving and thriving. Integrative psychotherapy does not try to fit the client into one type of therapy as it utilises many different therapies and can tailor-fit the therapy to the individual needs of each person.

I provide a strictly confidential non judgmental environment and work from an integrated Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) perspective.Counselors work in different ways and can have training in different areas and theories so it is important to find the right counselor to suit you. Before choosing a counselor It can be helpful to have an initial phone conversation with a few counselors to get a sense of how they work, and discuss any concerns you may have. I am happy to talk to you on the phone, without any commitment on your part.

I would highly recommend.Shane, Ireland, 06 02 17

I went to see Brian to help get past my anxiety issues which were debilitating and causing me serious depression. Brian was exceptionally professional and clearly sincerely cared about my issues. He immediately put me at ease and validated my decision to seek help. After a few weeks, a clear shift had happened. After seeing Brian for roughly 12 weeks, the difference in my mental wellbeing was astonishing. At this point, Brian suggested moving forward without recurring appointments, which I felt comfortable with. Excellent treatment My experience was very positive across all areas. A relationship was quickly established and centered around trust and support, which allowed me to open up fully. This was key to my treatment being successful. I would highly recommend Brian to anyone who requires help, support and guidance to get past any troubled times. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, genuine and professional. I would recommend him to any close friends or family. Be well, Shane

Individual Psychotherapy €90 - €120
Personal therapy is a way in which an individual can address any issue in their lives that is causing them distress. Each person, in their own unique way, has the potential to overcome their present difficulties. Working regularly with a trained therapist in a safe and non judgmental environment can provide a setting in which someone  can engage constructively with their struggle and discover a more creative way of living with less emotional baggage to hold them back.
CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy €70 - €90
What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has been the most widely researched therapy. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that involves addressing a person’s problematic thinking styles and behaviors. It is based on the idea that how we think (cognition), how we feel (emotion), and how we act (behaviour) all interact together. Specifically, our thoughts determine our feelings and our behavior. Therefore, negative thoughts can cause us distress and result in problems. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps people to develop alternative viewpoints in order to tackle their problems. Developing alternative viewpoints is the cornerstone of the CBT principle that there is always more than one way of seeing things and therefore a person chooses their own viewpoint. This type of therapy has been found to be helpful in: AnxietyPanic attackDepressionAcrophobia and other phobiasSocial phobiasBulimiaObsessive compulsive disorderPost traumatic stress disorderStressRelationship problems When we change the way we think for the better, this in turn, contributes to how we view and react to situations around us. It also helps to bring new clarity of thought to help make better decisions for ourselves and others.
Couples Therapy €90 - €120
What is Marriage & Relationship Counselling? Relationships can run into difficulties from time to time resulting in conflict, lack of communication and disappointment. Normal life stage events such as the birth of a new baby, redundancy, retirement, a change in work/life balance or children leaving home can also present couples with the challenge of renegotiating their expectations of themselves and each other. Counselling can teach you some valuable ways to improve and enhance communication skills and to work through difficult emotions to achieve clarity, understanding and connection. Elmwood Centre offers relationship counselling in a safe and comfortable environment to co-habiting, married and same sex couples. We provide the space for couples to talk, listen and be heard. By working with a counsellor who possesses empathy and professional expertise, couples feel supported while working through the challenges in their intimate relationship. While being aware of the uniqueness of each individual, we also have the skills and experience to hear both sides of the story in complete confidence, without judgement and without taking sides. The relationship you wish to explore may be past, present or in the future, and we invite you, alone or with your partner, to avail of the opportunity to explore, understand and transform your relationships.
