Anne-Louise Foley Counselling at The Healing House - Psychotherapy Clinic in Ireland

Anne-Louise Foley Counselling at The Healing House

The Healing House, 24 O'Connell Avenue, Berkeley Road, Dublin 7
I'm currently offering both face to face and also online counselling. If you're feeling stuck in your life, or anxious, stressed, or depressed, counselling can help. I believe that you have the resources within yourself to find answers and resolve your difficulties, but may need a bit of help on this journey.  I work in an integrative way, meaning that I will use elements from different areas of psychotherapy in order to help you develop a stronger and healthier sense of yourself. It is helpful to gain some insight into the cause of the problem, and then work together with you on finding ways forward.  I hold a BA (hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy from ICHAS (the Irish College of Humanities & Applied Sciences) and am an accredited member of the APCP and the BACP. I am also trained in EMDR.

Initial Meeting This may be your first time entering therapy; here is a list of what we have seen to be true for many people about therapy: •It takes time to establish a trusting relationship with a therapist. •It is important to go at your own pace and not overwhelm yourself.  •We all resist change. Don’t be surprised if you are tempted to quit right before some real changes or breakthroughs are about to happen. •Becoming more healthy and balanced can feel very unfamiliar and uncomfortable at first. •Therapy is hard work. •Some therapy is short term (usually focusing on one issue and situation) and other therapy may be longer term (more than one or complex issues.)  •Expect your therapist to hold strong boundaries, be ethical, and treat you with respect.  •Remember that therapy, in the hands of a skilled therapist, is a powerful and life-changing experience. It has been shown to be effective for a variety of difficulties and problems. If you need therapy and work as an active participant in your own treatment, you can expect it will be well worth the time and money you invest.

Amazing, I woke up the following morning feeling empoweredRebecca, Ireland, 16 12 17

I struggle (extremely bad lately) with anxiety, when it gets out of hand I can't control my feelings and I get very depressed. Which is not in my nature at all! I thought this was my main and only problem that I was having. I was suffering at work, at home, being a single mother and I lost all confidence. I finally came to see Ann after been advised to do so. I have only had one appointment so far but I cannot wait to go back for another chat. Speaking to Ann was so easy I said so many things I knew I was feeling but I've never said it out loud. Once she asked the right questions that made me ramble on about these feelings, it's was unreal! Speaking to Ann made me realize how important it is to talk about your problems and how it has made me feel much calmer to face my issues. Amazing, I woke up the following morning feeling empowered! Can't wait for my next session.

After a couple of sessions, I could already see a difference in my approachKevin, Ireland, 18 02 20

Just finished 8 weeks of Counselling with James and I must say what a difference it has made to my life. I was somewhat sceptical entering counselling again after a couple of negative experiences with previous counsellors. With James it was different. He has an amazing skill of making you feel really calm and relaxed in his presence. I was suffering from anxiety due to work-related stress which was also affecting my relationship with my partner. James used various techniques to help me focus and relax and also encouraged me to challenge my negative train of thought using Cognitive behavioural therapy. This really helped relieve my anxiety. After a couple of sessions, I could already see a difference in my approach and outlook. The Counselling centre is perfectly located and very convenient to reach by public transport. All in all my experience of the Counselling sessions with James were extremely positive. He is a very skilled counsellor and comes highly recommended.
