What is Breast Implant Surgery?

Breast Implant Surgery, or Boob Job or Breast Augmentation Surgery, is performed to give women fuller and more rounded breasts.  It is popular among women who have lost breast volume because of weight loss or after childbirth and breast feeding. It is also performed for breast cancer patients who have undergone mastectomy surgery, to reconstruct their breasts.

How is Breast Implant Surgery done?

Breast Implant Surgery is performed either by a fat transfer procedure to increase the volume of breasts or by making incisions and inserting silicone gel or saline filled implants to increase the size of breasts. Depending on the patient's requirements they can be inserted above or underneath the muscle tissue of the breast and be inserted through incisions made underneath the breast or under the armpit.  The surgeon should explain the benefits of each type of procedure.

The process of booking was easy and the lady I dealt with was professional and friendly. Everything was booked but just prior to having the treatment of removal of a growth, I found that it had fallen off on its own. This meant that the procedure was not required. My deposit was refunded with no issues and if I required this service again this is definitely the company I would use. The service I received was excellent even though I did not require the completion of the procedure. The lady I dealt with was lovely to deal with so I have no doubt that if I had continued the final result would have been as expected.

If this is the result you’re after, it is perhaps worth being aware of all the risks involved. As the use of breast cosmetic surgery has increased over the last 20 years, we have become accustomed to seeing all sorts of extreme transformations, dictated by fashion or by distorted aesthetic models. However, surgeons now have the moral obligation to help patients reach more sensible decisions, based on the awareness of the problems arising from oversized prostheses. It is often the plastic surgeon him or herself who – in order to honour the requests of a patient, or in order not to lose a patient – tends to underestimate the risks associated with large implants. On more than one occasion, I have had to turn down a request for surgery because I felt that I was being asked to provide a result that was completely out of proportion with the patient’s overall frame. This situation occurs particularly with very young patients, who may be so determined to achieve the extra-large result that they have dreamt of that they are unwilling to accept an explanation of possible risks. Larger breast implants, because of the pressure they exert on the gland tissue, subcutaneous tissue and on the skin envelope, can cause atrophy (thinning) of these tissues. In the best-case scenarios this will lead to visibility of the implants, chronic discomfort, stretch marks, loss of sensation, loss of the ability to breastfeed, sinmastia (breasts touching each other along the chest midline) and p

In October I had a breast reduction operation arranged by A New You clinic. I attended the clinic after the surgery for changing of dressings. The nurse at A New You, Kelly was very good. She explained how to look after the operation sites and gave me spare dressings etc. The Surgeon was great, very down to Earth and approachable. He explained everything very clearly. I am really pleased I had the op it has healed well and the scars are fading. I was impressed by the care at the clinic and the friendliness of all the staff.
