What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth coloured coverings also known as porcelain laminates used to cover the front of the tooth. They are placed to improve the appearance of smiles by changing the colour, length or size of teeth. The porcelain used to make the veneers is of a high quality and is generally long lasting.

What is the difference between Porcelain Veneers and Dental Crowns?

Porcelain veneers are only used to cosmetically correct the appearance of smiles. They only cover the front portion of the tooth. Dental crowns cover the entire tooth and are used to cover damaged teeth. Crowns are also placed over surgically inserted dental implants. Crowns are thicker than veneers. The patient’s tooth structure does not need much reduction for the placement of a porcelain veneer. A major portion of the tooth structure has to be reduced before the placement of a crown.

How long do Porcelain Veneers last?

Porcelain veneers last between 10 and 20 years. Patients need to follow the dental maintenance care instructions strictly to ensure that their porcelain veneers don’t wear out or chip. Porcelain veneers are the strongest and costliest type of veneer.

Is it painful getting Porcelain Veneers?

The dentist will administer a local anaesthetic before placing porcelain veneers. This is because the teeth of some patients are more sensitive than others. Since very little tooth structure is reduced for placing veneers, patients will not feel pain after veneers are placed. Some patients may feel a little soreness or sensitivity for a few days after the anaesthesia wears off.

Liberty Dental Clinic

(805) 804-5440 2273 Calle 2DA, Tijuana, 22000
Rating from 7 Reviews I love this clinic and I will be backKarin, US, 10 Aug 17

I am from Oz and have been living in San Clemente CA for the last 6 months and chipped a front tooth as well as breaking my night guard in the same week. I checked prices to rectify in the USA and thought would have to wait for the next trip home to fix as I didn't have insurance. Then I googled dentists in Tijuana and stumbled across some great reviews for Liberty dental services. Abel responded promptly to all of my email questions and I quickly made an appointment. I couldn't be happier with the work done. I love this clinic and I will be back! Fantastic experience with this clinic. Super friendly staff, great service and hospitality.

Friendly staff, experienced dentists, and low costJack, US, 16 Mar 18

I had a 40-year-old bridge that was loose and painful due to an infection. Liberty did a root canal and removed the old bridge on Monday, gave me a temp and put in the new bridge on Wednesday. Friendly staff, experienced dentists, and low cost ($908) made it a totally pleasant experience. They even reimbursed me for parking and taxis. Highly recommend Liberty.

Rating from 113 Reviews Nicest people in the worldJoanna, US, 14 Nov 15

Over a year ago I had my treatment by Dra. Gavaldone. It included a porcelain veneer 3 piece bridge and composite veneers on my front teeth. I have not had any issues with my work. I believe she did a great job. I agree with other reviews as far as treatment and excellent customer service. Nicest people in the world. I traveled alone and felt very safe. The apartment across the street was perfect, pool, ocean front. I highly recommend this dentist. Great. I agree with other reviews as far as treatment and excellent customer service. Nicest people in the world. I traveled alone and felt very safe. The apartment across the street was perfect, pool, ocean front. I highly recommend this dentist. I spent $1300 at the clinic, in the US the cost would've been $6000. There wasn't one bad part of my trip. Once I inquired about what they could do, they responded immediately, I had photos, xrays, sent and again they responded immediately and set up an appointment immediately. I did extensive research on travel dentistry and Ocean Dental really stood out. Especially with travel arrangements assisting with flight, and room. My experience was honestly the best customer service and the highest quality dental care. I was amazed the technology is better than the US. I am fifty years old. Your website helped me find this doctor, thank you.

Dentics Cancun is amazing and I chose them because of the research I’d done online. I couldn’t be happier with my porcelain veneers - it was phenomenal value for money. I wish I could give them a higher rating than 5 stars! The clinic was spotless and the technology they use is very advanced. After the procedure, they followed up via emails and calls. My husband and I will be going back in April because he also wants to have some work done. Dentics Cancun is our new family dentist now.

Rating from 109 Reviews My treatments were greatAlan, US, 23 Jun 17

I needed a bridge to replace a missing tooth. X-Rays showed that one crown would have to be removed also and that a larger bridge would also replace two other missing teeth. I ended up getting 14 crowns in a bridge that covered all three teeth. Very good. My dentist Denise was very skilled and her assistant Emma was also excellent. Other assistant Pepe was also very helpful. I chose this clinic due to interviews with e-mail and the help of a person at the media center,

Rating from 1 Review The doctor speaks good English, explains everything fully and isn't in a rushJerry, US, 11 Apr 18

I had major work done. 28 crowns, 10 root canals, 7 posts and 3 molar extractions, all in 4 consecutive days. I wouldn’t do so much in such a short time period again. I have avoided the dentist for years, several teeth were worn down to the gums and some old fillings were cracked and loose. This wasn’t the cheapest clinic but I liked the dentist, Hector Perez, more than the other dentists at different clinics. As he speaks good English, explains everything fully, isn’t in a rush and everything appears to have been successful.

Rating from 59 Reviews Wonderful!Rodney, Mexico, 26 Jan 17

I had an infection in my gums. Kept going to dentists and no one diagnosed what was wrong. Dra. Meneses immediately diagnosed me, prescribed medications and I am no longer suffering with this. She even made arrangements to pick me up and bring me to the Clinic, no charge for that. She was great, I would go back any time and would recommend her to others. She charged me 300 pesos the first visit. Two follow up visits for no additional cost. Very good value. The clinic was wonderful. Well equipped and clean. Very good staff, English spoken well.

Nucleo Dental

(877) 843-6516 Boulevard Tomas Fernández 7803, Ciudad Juárez, 32440
Rating from 43 Reviews Clean, modern, state of the art, efficient, and comfortable.David, US, 10 Sep 16

I have had a bridge for my front teeth for almost 50 years. I have had it replaced or repaired by dentists in Albuquerque,LA, San Francisco, Austin and Seattle over the years. After breaking it once again, I went to Nucleo Dental after speaking with various friends who have had work done around the world. The patient care team at Nucleo was world-class, bilingual, and the attention to detail was precise. The facility was extremely modern and Dr. Moran is very much involved and personally did all the work while using the most state of the art material and lab for the construction of my new Zirconia bridge. I also need a root canal so his pain management techniques were world class and very effective. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes. Thier shuttle service across the border was very efficient and their patient care coordinator Laurie Shapiro was both knowledgeable and always available for questions. My new smile is perfect and both I and more important my wife love it. My wife has begun the process of an implant and has a similar experience. My work at Nucleo Dental was about 75% less expensive or a quarter the cost, for the same work I would have received in the states and far more efficient. Clean, modern, state of the art, efficient, and comfortable.

There is a high level of care and professionalism at NucleoMichael, US, 24 Oct 16

Chose Juarez due to proximity to my home, ( 3 hour drive). Almost went for consultation with a different clinic, but found way, way too many negative reviews. Fortunately I was saved from that by good advice and chose Nucleo. After an initial consultation 10/18/16, with Dr. Moran, and panoramic xrays a plan was established. Dr. Moran gave me a written quote at that time, and in the process never tried to add "extras" as many reviewers state other clinics in the area often do. He knew what he was doing and he kept his word. Returning on 10/20/16 I had 6-8 uppers extracted, 4 implants installed, some bone grafting and flap surgery. Then a healing denture placed. I had reasons for trying to do all at once, but given how involved it was, I would not choose to do 4 hard hours in the chair again. Might try to spread it out a bit, still recuperating. Also for that much work I should have opted for the gas, I processed the local so quickly that Dr. Moran and 2 capable assistants, ( he told me they were also doctors,) were frequently having to reinject. I must say they were very attentive, each time I would start to break the arms off the chair, they noticed. I will return in 3-4 months for placement of the porcelain upper on the implants. Dr. Moran told me these were Straumann implants, which is one of the major brands, he demonstrated how they work and showed me the constant images they took to be sure of proper placement. Indeed I have never had so many both photos and images of any part of me as they took of my mouth. That alone shows the level of care and professionalism at Nucleo. Others have pointed out the levels of sanitation, equipment etc. I would say this clinic is equal to any I have tried in USA. One thing I have not noticed commented on is that this clinic is also frequented by professional Mexican citizens, which speaks to the respect and competency the clinic deserves. This is not just another cut rate across the border scam operation. Yes I am sure the locals get a "discount" as it should be. My stitches are still healing of course, so the temporary denture does not fit too well. Dr Moran told me to adjust for a month or so, and if the fit is not good, return for reline, or remake if necessary.

Two white fillings, x-rays and a good cleaning!!! Dra Alvarez was kind and welcoming as were the others in the dental office. The dental work was done promptly and professionally. Best Dental

(805) 639-8776 Calle Elias #93_B Col. Buenos Aires, Nogales, 84010
Rating from 18 Reviews It was a great experienceAlan, US, 18 Jan 17

On 16 Jan 2017, my wife and I had appointments at Best dental. I needed a new veneer which broke off last week. My wife needed a cleaning, an extraction, and a three-tooth partial appliance. We had met at the clinic the week before for an exam and impressions for the veneer and partial. That appointment went very well. I must say this was our first experience visiting Mexico and our first dental experience in Mexico and Best Dental. Everything went exceptionally well. Then on the 16th, we returned for completing all the work. My veneer was ready on schedule, was placed, and cemented. The entire procedure was quick and painless, and the partial looks great. My wife had her cleaning, extraction, and partial completed easily, painlessly, and professionally. I must say my wife is horrified to visit dentists. She breaks out in hives and always needs gas even just for cleanings. But Dr Saavedra and his assistant were so good at keeping my wife at ease, she went thru all the procedures with no gas or any relaxant. She was given two shots in the gums by Dr Saavedra and she said that she never even felt them. That was amazing, considering all the previous dental experiences she's had in the US that were dreadfully painful and anxious-ridden. So, bottom line, our experience at Best Dental was superb for both of us. And our first two visits to Nogales were exciting, fun, and educational. We will return to Best Dental in one week to have my wife's partial adjusted. Till then, we can't wait to return once again to a fun little town and the friends we've already made. No, we are not Mexican and don't speak a lick of Spanish, yet we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and Dr Saavedra's dental clinic. I chose thus clinic by researching the internet for the best dental clinics in Nogales Mexico. Being this was our first visit to Mexico and a Mexican dentist, we were quite concerned. No more. It was a great experience! We will most definitely return. The office is small with no frills. But Dr Saavedra and has assistant is superb at putting you at ease, explaining everything as he works, and is very careful to not cause any pain. Oh, and he has the best prices anywhere and was 70% cheaper than all the dentists in Arizona that we got estimates from.
