The two crowns holding it in place are attached to your teeth on each side of the false tooth. This is known as a fixed bridge. This procedure is used to replace one, or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth as you might do with removable partial dentures. The dental bridge can be completed in a week at a reasonable price, without complications. The natural tooth must be adequately strong to provide good support, while the gap of the lost tooth must not be too wide. It is essential to have a natural tooth in the front and back of the gap for the bridge to be effective. It is also necessary to grind / drill the natural tooth next to the gap so it can support the bridge. If either the tooth, or crown is damaged, then the entire two teeth and the dental bridge must be removed. The dental bridge cannot be used again on a permanent basis.
