What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Cantilever bridges are placed when there are healthy teeth only on one side of the bridge. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. These bridges are placed when several implants are surgically inserted.

Is fitting dental bridges painful?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

When can I travel by air after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.

How long does recovery after fitting dental bridges take?

If patients feel pain or sensitivity after a dental bridge is fitted, they should recover within a week.

How do I care for my teeth after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to fitting dental bridges?

Some alternatives to dental bridges are partial dentures or removable dentures.

I was missing teeth on the bottom so got a partial plate and I needed bad teeth on top pulled and missing others so needed a plate on top. I am very happy with the way they fit and price was at least half the cost. I would recommend them to anybody. The staff is very friendly and the dentists really new what they were doing. I plan on going back next year for a cleaning and checkup and so do my friends that went when I did. I also like that I can contact them via email if I do not want to call and I get a response very quickly

Dental partials. This is a no-nonsense professional dentist. She performs only the work necessary and doesn't try to sell you unnecessary services (unlike the US.A). You are promptly seen and attended to at your scheduled time (also unlike the U.S.A). My work was performed at about 20% of the cost I would have paid for in Florida. Thank You (gracias) Doctor Luz Marely Garcia Alvarez!

Rating from 3 Reviews I just can't put a price on the worth of the workGloria, US, 10 Sep 18

Like most, I was looking for affordable dental work. I needed extensive work done, but even with insurance, I knew that it was going to be to expensive. I heard about affordable work being done in Progresso, Mexico so I researched it. I filled out a request and had lots of clinics reaching out to me, but only two called me. The first was not Pena Reyna. It was actually another dentists who quoted me about 700 bucks to have two bridges done and some crowns. I spoke with him and even made an appointment, but then Irma from Pena Reyna reached out to me by phone. She spoke English really well since she is actually from San Antonio furthermore she sent me pictures of before and afters and a picture of some crowns they had just made a client. After speaking to her, her husband called (owner of the clinic) and explained that he could not give me an estimate because he wasn't sure how much actual work I was going to need. He said I needed an x-ray or recent dental records to know for sure, but assured me his prices were fair. So I decided to go there first, they did an x-ray, found out what I needed, gave me a price and explained everything in detail. The price was way more than I planned to spend, 5k to be exact, but I needed so much work and I knew that. I ended up having about 6 root canals, two bridges, an extraction, about 10 porcelain crowns and removal of silver filling which were replaced with white resin. In all reality, it was still so much cheaper than I would have payed anywhere in the U.S. and I just can't put a price on the worth of the work. The staff was nothing short of amazing. Irma met me in town, I followed her to the parking lot just outside of the border, and she walked in with me. She told me what to bring in advance, so I was prepared. The entire staff worked together like none ever. Because my visit was so short and I had lots of infection (hence the root canals), they gave me injections of antibiotics over the course of the few days I was there and even gave me some to take with me. I'm a nurse, so it's okay. They checked up on me daily to make sure I got to my hotel safe, even to make sure I got home safe and that I was feeling okay. I mentioned that I still had pain on my left side of the face and they quickly sent me more medication. I think they came in about 2 days. I can go on and on, but I think I have gotten my message across. The location is easy to get to, the staff was amazing, the price was affordable and so worth it! If your thinking of getting work done, be careful who you go with, it's true that you get what you pay for and I'm glad I didn't have to find that out the hard way. Good luck all! Excellent overall service!

Dental Bridges
A bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replaced a missing by joining an artificial tooth permanently to adjacent teeth.  Types of bridges may vary, depending upon how they are fabricated and the way they anchor to the adjacent teeth. A bridge is fabricated by reducing the teeth on either side of the missing tooth or teeth by a preparation pattern determined by the location of the teeth and by the material from which the bridge is fabricated.

Rating from 1 Review I needed a perfect smile for workDarci, Gray georgia, 15 Jun 17

I had work done in Mexico on the top in 2009 I was haveing some problems with the original work and my bottom teeth needed a makeover. A guide took me to Dr. Marquez because I was upset that the dentist I originally made an appointment for was very young with no experience and I knew that I needed major work done. Dr. Marquez took me in and began the work. He has been a dentist in Nuevo progress for 33 years and was very knowledgeable and extremely competent in dentistry. His staff speaks English well enough to explain what they are doing and why and carry on a conversation. In four days I had 3 root canals, 2 extractions and had 20 crowns placed. Dr. Marquez explained that the original crowns were not sealed properly and that was the reason for the failure and took necessary steps to assure the new crowns were sealed properly. The pain from this work was very minimal and I would recommend Dr. Marquez to anyone needing dental restorations at reasonable prices To anyone new to crossing the border for dental work, research the dental clinics and read reviews. Dr. Marquez is a dentist that I will continue to travel from Georgia annually for checkups and care. My experience was awesome.

Dental Bridges
Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap – these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth – and a false tooth/teeth in between. These false teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.
3-Unit Bridge from $600
Replacing one single missing tooth with a 3 unit bridge was the most effective tooth replacement treatment prior to dental implants becoming available. This particular type of dental bridge comprises of three prosthetic teeth joined alongside each other in a row, the tooth in the centre bridges the gap with the false teeth on each side being attached over 2 healthy natural teeth.
Permanent Bridge
The new permanent bridge will be checked and adjusted, as necessary, to achieve a proper fit.

Rating from 58 Reviews I was immensely pleased with the services they offered me at this fantastic clinicHenry, Ottawa, 01 Mar 18

This clinic had really good reviews, so I chose them for my dental implants. The place was a little out of the way compared to some of the other clinics in the neighborhood (it was on the second floor) and it would have been hard to find had I not been taken there by the hand. I’ve been to a number of clinics in Mexico and this one was exceptionally clean. The dentist was on on time and the appointment went ahead exactly as scheduled. I remember seeing a limited price list online, but I was quoted the real price after they took x-rays of my mouth. The dentist did a wonderful job inserting the implants, but there was something else they managed to do for me that was even more exceptional. A while back I booked an appointment with a different clinic to have crowns done. After they examined me, the dentist there refused to do it. He told me it couldn’t be done, and that it wouldn’t last. When I visited Extreme Makeovers and got their opinion on the crown, they warned me that it might not last for many years (2-4 years perhaps). I decided to go through with it anyway - in the worst case it would cost me 50 bucks per year for the crown, and that’s a great deal in my opinion. We did the procedure and it was a great success. Dr. Cooke also managed to do something else for me. Some time ago I’d had an implant done at a different dental practice and it failed (the site had to be closed and grafted). I asked Dr. Cooke if he's able to do a single-stage implant for me (most dentists are hesitant to go forth with this because the failure rate is high). The doctor agreed to do the immediate load implant. It’s been two months now, and the implant is still fine. The likelihood of failure is pretty remote at this stage of the game. I also had a deep cleaning here, which was fairly well done, even though it hurt a little bit. The job was thorough and he performed the deep clean in two stages. When we were done with the first session, Dr. Cooke told me, “Now your gums are bleeding. You’ll come back in two days and we’ll finish the job.” When I returned, we completed the cleaning. I was immensely pleased with the services they offered me at this fantastic clinic. I managed to get work done here that other dentists couldn’t do for me. It was a great experience. Such superb workmanship!

I also always come here for my cleaning and other regular treatment. Nothing but good things; staffs are very friendly and they have all kind of specialist dentist i.e: for endodontic, orthodontist and implant. Clinic is very clean and all professionals. Better if not the same as dental office in the US. Never have problem with cleaniness and non sanitized instruments. They used filtered water for all treatments.

Rating from 1 Review The best part of our experience was the kindness of the staffCindy, South Africa, 20 Dec 17

My mother visited America Dental Clinic to have dentures done. We chose this clinic because they were 75% cheaper than any of the other dentists in America. She had the appointment in May, and went for a follow-up in June. It was absolute value for money. The clinic was clean and very well-staffed. We paid the same price we found on their website. After the first appointment there was a routine follow-up to adjust the dentures. The best part of our experience was the kindness of the staff, who were so courteous they actually drove us back and forth across the border because my mom has trouble walking that distance. We really appreciated this kind gesture.

I had been wanting a tooth implant for a while and was really hesitant to go to Mexico. After much discussion with my husband, I decided to go. Much to my surprise, it was not as difficult as I thought. We were there with Dr Ramos early one morning, had a 3D x-ray done a few blocks away and confirmed that I was a candidate for the implant. It took about 40 minutes for the whole procedure. I have gone for a 2 week follow up for removal of stitches and will return in 4 months for the abutment and after that crown. Very happy so far.
