What are Dental Bridges?

Dental bridges, also called tooth bridges, are placed when patients have one or more teeth missing or have gaps between their teeth. It usually takes two visits to get dental bridges fitted and the procedure takes about two hours.

What different types of dental bridges are there?

Traditional dental bridges consist of two crowns placed on healthy teeth on either side of the missing teeth, or gap, and the bridge then covers the gap supported by the two crowns. Cantilever bridges are placed when there are healthy teeth only on one side of the bridge. Maryland bridges are bonded to the backs of teeth on either side of the bridge and are not connected to crowns. Implant retained bridges are bridges that are placed over implants fixed in the gums. These bridges are placed when several implants are surgically inserted.

Is fitting dental bridges painful?

The dentist will numb the area where the dental bridge is to be placed before performing the procedure. Patients will not feel any pain during the procedure.

When can I travel by air after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should be able to fly two days after fitting their dental bridge. If they feel any pain or sensitivity after the procedure, they should consult their dentist for medications or postpone their journey till the pain or sensitivity has abated.

How long does recovery after fitting dental bridges take?

If patients feel pain or sensitivity after a dental bridge is fitted, they should recover within a week.

How do I care for my teeth after fitting dental bridges?

Patients should follow a normal dental hygiene routine. Patients should brush and floss their teeth and maintain proper hygiene. Patients should avoid eating or drinking anything that is too hot, cold or too hard, for at least a week after the procedure.

What are the alternatives to fitting dental bridges?

Some alternatives to dental bridges are partial dentures or removable dentures.

Oasis Dental Group

Rating from 5 Reviews You will get your dental work done in a day or two instead of months as in the StatesIan, US, 13 Mar 16

I have had at least 12 bone grafts, implants and crowns done by Dr. Karina at Oasis Dental. All of the work that Dr. Karina and Oasis Dental have completed has been excellent. I have had dentists in the States say to me that the work looks really good and was done by a dentist who really knew what they were doing. Oasis Dental is excellent. I have had a lot of dental work done there, mostly implants, and everything has gone very well. I have been to many dentists in the States and I would go to Oasis Dental over any of them. I have always seen Dr. Karina and she is, by far, the best dentist that I have ever been to. She is a totally excellent dentist in all ways. I would not hesitate to recommend Oasis Dental and Dr. Karina to anyone who wants excellent dental work and wants to save money. You park on the US side for a $6 fee and walk to their office which is no more than a few minutes walk from the border. It is all very safe and you will get your dental work done in a day or two instead of months as in the States.

Circle Dental Group - Los Algodones

(877) 863-7456 Av A Corner 3rd, Los Algodones, 21970
Rating from 113 Reviews Everyone was very nice and caringRandi, US, 13 Dec 16

Well I had many choices for what needed to be done. They suggested 4 implants but just not ready to have someone drill into my jaw bone. Good news is that if I decide to have implants at a later day it can be done. For now anyway 5 1/2 hours of work. 2 Extractions, 1 bone graft post and 9 crowns. 1 root canal, full xrays, 1 four teeth bridge (attached to one molar and one bicuspid with two missing teeth in the middle) 1 bridge that is anchored by 2 teeth and then 1 attached bridge tooth attached to anchored teeth because there is no molar to attach it to. Decided to go with Zirconium Crowns since they are stronger and would need the support for chewing. One of the crowns is on the upper front (I had a broken tooth there) they replaced the 3 old crowns in that 9 that had lost their seal. The extractions that I had done were to the pulp and couldn't be saved. Everyone was very nice and caring. The place was very clean and up to date. The xrays were the best ever. They did not try to jam the hard edge plastic things in your mouth that slice into your mouth. They take the xray and show you right on the computer screen. They suggested treatment plans and discussed my ideas too. I did not feel pressured to choose. Anyway final cost was $4030.00. Having the many hours of work and holding my mouth open I did start to have one of my anxiety attacks and had to take a break to take a pill. I lasted until the last hour but just couldn't go on without the anxiety attack and stiff jaw. I am done for today and have tomorrow off to take care of myself while they make my crowns and bridges. I have an appointment at 10:30 am on Wednesday to finish. Dr. Jimenez was alway concerned if I felt any pain and gave me plenty of novacaine. The initial shot is never any fun but didn't last long. I don't have any pain right now but of course I took the prescribed pain pill and anti-inflammatory. I started on antibiotics four days ago and he told me to continue for three more days. He did prescribe some antibiotic too. He did tell me I will be sore for a few days but so far it is ok.

BioDental Care - Tijuana

Rating from 2 Reviews The team did a great job and felt they were very fair and knowledgeableJennifer, US, 06 Aug 18

All-on-six dental implants. From talking on the phone with Alex (who gave detailed info on our very invasive surgery) to a line-by-line itemized cost sheet we chose Biodental care. From the moment we parked right before the border we had someone drive us over to our hotel then the clinic, all three times, they even drove me to the pharmacy to make sure we got our correct meds. Alex and Antonio were very patient and helpful, Dr Trejo doesn’t speak English very much, but they were there to translate the whole time. We were very comfortable, also very nervous, but the team did a great job and felt they were very fair and knowledgeable. My partners mouth reconstruction just started (major surgery done and took 8 hrs!!!!!), we have 3 more trips and are confident in the team. We even recommended them to the family! Here’s to hoping for more of a smooth ride.

Evolution Implant Center

Calle Segunda e Internacional L-6, Plaza Rio Colorado, Los Algodones, 21970
Rating from 4 Reviews These hard working, competent people helped me change my life out of misery.john, US, 12 Jun 16

I went to the Evolution dental clinic after being unable to afford the extensive work needed to restore my teeth after extended illness. I could not afford US dental costs even with Health insurance subsidies.$45,000 minimum and months of appointments. 24 crowns-2 extractions(difficult ones)-2-one tooth bridges-gum surgery--$4500 at Evolution Dental--Unbelievable Value! I chose Evolution after a close friend went there. He said they were working dentists that were not afraid to work and would not be afraid to take on such a huge job like the US dentists were I tried to use and did good work for a great price. I had a lot of work to do and only $4500 so gave them a try and every day I give thanks for my good fortune to find Eduardo and his family. I was given several options and chose the one that fit my pocketbook. I will return soon for two implants and am hoping to take my sister with me for several crowns. It has been 4 months since my work and all is still working well.I am no stranger to US dental work and was sure I would have problems with something like at home but have had no issues yet. I own my problems and know that crowns are a covering over a compromised tooth.Only a nut would think dental work is not a life long issue. These hard working, competent people helped me change my life out of misery.

Rating from 22 Reviews She has a way of reassuring you that she is competent, concerned and compassionateMarquita, US, 30 Jul 18

I was missing several molar teeth and I was looking to restore my smile as my teeth were discoloured. Dr Myra has excellent bedside manner and I was greeted by my name with a hug. This experience was quite different than any other I have encountered at any dental office or physician's office. Dr Myra gave me a great price on several crowns and bridges. The trip to Mexico and the funds spent were definitely worth it. Her staff is also very pleasant and helpful. I received multiple compliments on my teeth when I returned home. I was somewhat nervous when I arrived, but Dr Mayra assured me that I was in good hands. She has a way of reassuring you that she is competent, concerned and compassionate. After much homework and research to find a cosmetic dentist, I am sure that I made the best decision!

Simply Dental

Rating from 85 Reviews This has been my best dental experience since retiringJohn, US, 22 Sep 17

7 unit zirconia bridge. If there were 10 stars I would rate them as a 10! I traveled from middle Tennessee for this procedure. The facility was immaculate and modern. The dentist Dr. Balderrama was superb and very professional. He spoke fluent English and explained things very well. There were no hitches and only took two visits. This has been my best dental experience since retiring from the Chicago area in 2004. I recommend Simply Dental to anyone. They saved me more than $10,000.00 than what the same procedure would have cost in TN.

Dental Bridges
Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap – these two anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth – and a false tooth/teeth in between. These false teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.

Dental Implants $800 - $1000
Do you hide your smile because of spaces? Do you lack faith in the stability of your dentures? Do you have difficulty in chewing? Dental implants are so natural looking and feeling, you may forget you ever lost a tooth. Implants are alternatives to complex restorative treatment on your natural tooth such as conventional bridges, and dentures. Constructed of Titanium an implant is placed into the underlying bone of your jaw. Implants are safe, non-toxic, and biocompatible. Your bone will grow around the implant and osseo-integrate to the fixture. First tried over 30 years ago, implants evolved to provide a treatment option with 95% success rate over 10 years. Now considered the No. 1 option to replace a missing tooth, implant based treatment is the future of replacing gaps.

Prize Smile Mexico

(805) 380-3881 Avenida Paseo de los Héroes 9211, #108, Tijuana, 22010
Rating from 6 Reviews I will definitely be going back for regular cleaning maintenanceMr_Gary, US, 04 Apr 18

I recently lost dental coverage and suddenly a bridge I had for years started falling apart. I started researching clinics in Algodones, (250 Miles from home) as I know many retirees and Canadians go there. I was more interested in visiting Tijuana, as I have been there before and it is closer to my home. I sent a request for info on a Saturday afternoon and received a call almost immediately. Didn’t expect that response. I spoke with Frank who is very friendly and helpful. When I expressed my interest in going to Tijuana, he mentioned they also have clinics in Tijuana (only 100 Miles from home). He was very helpful in telling me how easy it is to get into Tijuana and it was true using the pedestrian bridge and Uber. The clinic is not more than 5-10 minutes from the border. The clinic hasn’t been there a year. All equipment was new and modern. Had the good fortune of meeting Dr Carlos Wheeler last week. We discussed options and he went to work to have the bridge built perfectly. I had some additional special requests which he was happy to accommodate. Dr Wheeler and Dra Alexia were very interested in making sure they got everything just right. Had my new bridge installed today. He actually had the lab do a better job in matching my teeth colouring than last time. Also, as we age, our gums recede. He made sure the fit was better than before I walked in the door. Dra Isabel’s smile lights up the room when you walk in. She is a new and enthusiastic dentist but also knows what she do and when she needs to rely on others expertise. She certainly doesn’t oversell services. I will definitely be going back to her for regular cleaning maintenance, etc. You will enjoy meeting her as it is clear that she really cares. As a side note, many people are fearful of going to Tijuana. The area you will go into is very much a business district with people going about their daily routines. I had no concerns at all. Safety was not an issue at all! I chose to stay overnight last night at a Marriott and walked nearly a mile for dinner. Had no concerns whatsoever. Two thumbs up! The service was excellent and quality!

Confident Smile Studio

(866) 660-2109 Ave. B # 230 Suite 1, Los Algodones
Rating from 12 Reviews What more can I say they are simply top notch!Dorn, California, 28 Nov 16

My trip to Algodones Mexico began with my local dentist here in Northern California,Napa ,to be exact, quoted me a price of something around $10,000 to do one implant which would support a small 2 tooth bridge Plus a root canal and one crown on another tooth. The lady in charge of administering our pension fund medical benefits, when asked to consult on this issue, mentioned that her husband had trouble to Mexico and received excellent dental work which would've cost approximately $45,000 here in California for approximately $7500 in Mexico . I begin to research possibilities for dental care in Mexico and eventually through many phone calls and the help of people at the confident smile dental studios and the ladies at the online web service named dental departures I was able to set up a consultation appointment with Dr. Daniel Gaspar I traveled to Mexico And did a full consultation with the doctor. It was determined that I needed six implants to in some cases replace teeth and in other places firmly anchored in a new bridge where an existing bridge was old and tired. I was so impressed with the quality of the work and the ability of the staff to share their thinking with me and point out other ways to improve the dental health of my mouth that I eventually did more work in terms of replacing old crowns with new crowns doing a root canal's were they could work proactively to maintain my dental health. Eventually I was able to do a full mouth restoration and my teeth are strong healthy, and attractive. If I had done this work here in the United States it would have cost between 40 and $50,000 as it turns Out this work eventually caused about 9500 in Mexico. I receive $3000 in Delta dental benefits each year and have been able to use almost the entire amount over A two-year span. Therefore my 40,000two $50,000 dental bill here in the states ended up being about 3500 to myself doing the work in Mexico. The entire staff of this dental facility have become like old friends or as they say in Hawaii,Kamahina. I did make five separate trips to Mexico for this work which for me was easy because I'm a retired person this might be a problem for someone with tight time constraints but the amount of money saved in the quality of the work would make me figure out how to do this even where I'm not retired. I am going to return to this dentist every six months for a cleaning and check ups since I just don't want to deal owith American dentist any longer because of their extravagant prices and because they do not offer the same levels of care care and service that I received at confidence smile studios What more can I say they are simply top notch!

Rating from 9 Reviews It feels greatKelly, US, 23 May 17

I came here to see about an implant back in January. My tooth had already been extracted months earlier so I was ready for the post to be implanted. Went ahead with doing so because the price was right, the reviews here were great, and Antonio the Dentist made me feel at ease. Post went in without a hitch. Now, 4 months later I just got home from having the crown done and also another crown done where one of my teeth had a pretty bad cavity. My God, looks so good and even better, feels great! I've been to dozens upon dozens of dentists in my life, and the professionalism here rates better than any other I've been. My dentist for life now and always a great excuse to head down to Ensenada for a little vacation and some awesome tacos. A1
