I was impressed by how much dental technology has changed over timeFred, US, 21 02 24I first went to Stetic in around 2018. I lived nearby and it was convenient. We had already had a disappointing experience with another Nuevo Progreso dentist, so I looked at online ratings, and then I contacted Manny. My wife needed 5 implants.
The dentist recommended 8, but we felt we could only afford 5 at the time. The teeth were removed, the mounts were installed, temporary were placed and we went home to wait 4 months for the mounts to heal. When we returned we found that one mount had not set and needed to be replaced. No problem, no charge, but we had to start over on that tooth. By that time it was apparent that the other three the dentist had recommended replacing were going to have to be done as well, so we had them done as well. Everything went great. My wife was very happy with everything and said the procedures had all been pain-free. As we lived only 50 miles away in Brownsville, we made numerous trips to Stetic. I had not been to the dentist in over 30 years but my wife convinced me to have them look at my teeth too. I needed a deep cleaning and a cavity filled. $80. No pain. I was impressed by how much dental technology has changed over time. Another nice thing about the clinic is that you pay only for services rendered that day, not the entire procedure. Recently my wife showed me 3 more teeth. It was obvious they had to go. We no longer live in Brownsville, but now reside in San Antonio, much farther away. I took my wife to the UTSA Dental School, where she was seen by a graduate student.
After X-rays and a first consult, the graduate student said she would need to see 3 other graduate specialists and for $600 we could get an estimate. I went home and called Manny. We got an appointment for the next week, which was 6 weeks ago. The teeth were removed, a temporary bridge was installed and we will be returning in June to have the permanents installed. Another thing I found comforting about the clinic is that in the approximately 6 years we have been going, there has been no staff turnover. All the same, dentists and office staff are still there. Everyone speaks English. If you fly in, Manny will pick you up and bring you back, take care of everything. In all the visits we made, I met many patients from all over. I don’t remember meeting any who said they were new, most had been coming for years, which to me was a recommendation in itself. Also, if you have to wait while they are working on your relative or friend, Manny is a great conversationalist and is highly informed on a wide range of subjects. Although our relationship began as a professional one, after this long I consider him a friend. My wife is a, how should I put it? Picky I guess would be the polite way, and she has been totally satisfied with all the work we have done.
In retrospect, I wish she had gone the whole mouth, but we are getting there a few at a time. 11 and counting. We highly recommend Stetic and feel lucky to have found them, after previous disappointments.
