Anne Kelly Counselling - Anne Kelly Counselling & Psychotherapy

Anne Kelly Counselling

2nd Floor, Joe Daly House, Lower Main Street, Dundrum, Dublin 14
5.0 from 1 verified review
I work with the client to discover their inner strengths and solutions using on the most part, a person centred approach but I also use an eclectic mix of other theories depending on the clients personal needs.  Clients are often unaware that they have the strength and knowledge within themselves to find solutions to the issues they are experiencing.  With a little gentle exploration, coupled with the support counselling/psychotherapy offers they unlock their own answers and this in turn empowers them to take control of their lives.  Changes don't always come easy and to make changes can be pretty difficult but when clients feel supported it enables them to look at themselves in a different way and to make the necessary changes.  Some clients even say "I've never said that out loud" or "it feels good to say that out in the open", and they know that from this point forward they can work towards making changes and feeling better in themselves.   Counselling brings about awareness and when you become aware of what it is that is causing you concern or anxiety, stress or discomfort you can take steps to alter, adapt or change it in order to lead a more contented life.  The ripple effect of change begins in the counselling room but eventually it filters into everyday life.

Making the decision to find a counsellor can be a difficult task, whether it is your first time or you are returning back to counselling. It can be a huge step in itself, as you may be experiencing a number of feelings, such as: what if I look silly, what if my problems seem unimportant or what if I don't know where to start? This is normal; honestly do not let this stop you. Please don't hesitate to call me and ask any questions, and then decide if you would like to come along to a free consultation? It's my belief that we all have our own answers to our difficulties and sometimes all we need is a safe place to explore our concerns. Also there are times when the ones closest to us aren't the best people to discuss our concerns, as our relationships with family and friends can often be the source of our distress. At Building Bridges I provide  a safe caring, non-judgemental and supportive space which allows people to explore issues within their life that are presently causing distress. Therapists use different approaches and interventions to suit the requirements of the client. The goal within the therapeutic relationship is help the client work towards making more positive choices.

She has allowed me to build my own self-esteem, take control of my lifeRita, Ireland, 29 10 19

I was lucky enough to meet Mary Brophy about 15 years ago at a really difficult time in my life when I had a young family and I was being bullied in work. Mary is an excellent therapist and a true professional. As my life unfolded and I was faced with many other challenges I continued to visit Mary occasionally to explore my own responses to challenging situations. She has allowed me to build my own self-esteem, take control of my life, resolve relationship issues and develop my own true nature and potential. Mary is one of the wisest people I ever met.

We sometimes have a laugh to make it a positive sessionSean, Ireland, 19 08 20

I started going to Brendan Markey in May 2018 for counselling at the Somer Clinic Clondalkin, I suffered horrific injuries in January 2018 and after Follow-ups with my Consultant who treated me observed me that I need Counselling as he was a concern for my well being. My GP recommend Somer clinic. Brendan was positive in getting me back me through to overcome the trauma and I was going through a tough period in 2018 and part of 2019 with recovery from the injuries along with worries of the future hold at the end of the recovery. He is a great listener and he has given back my confidence and persuaded me to be positive, open-minded, explored new ways to a new chapter and well being. He makes me relaxed and the conservation flow, He listened to my issues, and how I’m feeling with difficult with getting my independence back and he reassured me that we get there as part of wellbeing, giving me the morale boost. We sometimes have a laugh to make it a positive session. Take this opportunity to thank Brendan for his contribution in helping me in getting me back on my feet with his advice, opinion and enjoyed going to the sessions for I will see him again soon.

Initial Meeting This may be your first time entering therapy; here is a list of what we have seen to be true for many people about therapy: •It takes time to establish a trusting relationship with a therapist. •It is important to go at your own pace and not overwhelm yourself.  •We all resist change. Don’t be surprised if you are tempted to quit right before some real changes or breakthroughs are about to happen. •Becoming more healthy and balanced can feel very unfamiliar and uncomfortable at first. •Therapy is hard work. •Some therapy is short term (usually focusing on one issue and situation) and other therapy may be longer term (more than one or complex issues.)  •Expect your therapist to hold strong boundaries, be ethical, and treat you with respect.  •Remember that therapy, in the hands of a skilled therapist, is a powerful and life-changing experience. It has been shown to be effective for a variety of difficulties and problems. If you need therapy and work as an active participant in your own treatment, you can expect it will be well worth the time and money you invest.
