I had seen my regular dentist here in the States a few years ago for my routine cleaning and assessment. During the process, the dentist informed me of certain procedures that needed to be performed, including a bridge, the possible removal of a tooth, and the repair or replacement of one chipped tooth. The quoted figure was in the range of $22,000, which I was told was a starting fee, as additional costs could arise if complications occurred. I was shocked at the proposed cost, and my dental insurance covered only a tiny fraction of it. As an optometrist, I had coincidentally spoken with one of my patients a year or two prior about a vacation I was planning in Costa Rica. He mentioned that a friend of his visits Costa Rica yearly, enjoys her vacations there, and has all her dental work performed at a fraction of the cost in the U.S. She raved about the quality of care and how affordable it was, even with the cost of her stay and travel. Based on that conversation, I went online and researched dentists in Costa Rica. I was amazed at how many clinics there were, all with excellent reviews. I ultimately chose Dr. Urzola based on reviews and his credentials. I connected with his staff concierge, Christina, who did a fabulous job arranging the transfer of my dental records for Dr. Urzola’s review. She also arranged for a personal phone call with him to discuss his suggested treatment plan and price quote. After reviewing everything, we agreed on a price of $4,700 for all the originally considered procedures plus a few additional services. Christina scheduled the appointment and helped me book a discounted reservation at a local hotel. I was met at the airport in San Jose by a chauffeur who drove me directly to the hotel. Two weeks later, when I returned to the States, the clinic provided chauffeured transportation back to the airport, all at no additional charge. Last year, I returned to Dr. Urzola’s clinic for more dental work, including several crowns, an extraction, and a bridge, once again saving thousands of dollars. I highly recommend this practice to friends, family, and even patients, knowing they will receive excellent care.

The clinic and staff were wonderful. The staff took the time to explain everything before working on me. They were so thorough and kind. They made me feel very comfortable. they were very helpful helping me make all the arrangements to get there. I will come back to do my dental work.

Excellent gum graft surgeon and surgery process. I am so pleased with the results. I was scared going into surgery (what if it didn't take?), but the doctor made me feel at ease and did a masterpiece with the gum graft, even without an assistant! (there was an emergency she had to take care of). I decided to get the surgery in CR in between many travel plans, and surprisingly, many friends were wary of my decision until they saw how beautifully it's all healed. Post care is also very important. I bought the recommended products, didn't need pain meds, had daily protein shakes, and cleaned after every meal with loving care. 10/10
