Check-up & Consultation You are probably used to being told by your dentist that you need a check up every six months. But new guidelines advise dentists to match check-up appointments more closely to each individual’s needs. Different people may be given different gaps between check-ups. Your dentist will judge your particular risk of future problems at each check-up. He or she may suggest you return in six months, but may suggest a different gap. For adults, the suggested gap between check-ups may be three, six, nine, 12,15,18,21 or 24 months. Under 18’s could have a three, six, nine or 12 month gap between check-ups. This gap may get longer or shorter at different times in your life, depending on your teeth or other changes in your health or lifestyle.

Dental Implants Dental implants are replacement tooth roots. Dental Implants provide a strong foundation for permanent or removable prosthesis (replacement teeth) that are made to match your natural teeth. They are manufactured from biologically neutral pure Titanium that is accepted by the human body and these implants fuse with the jawbone to form a secure foundation for tooth replacement.

Implants are titanium cylinders with a surface with a screw, which is placed in the jawbone. The implant is made of commercially pure titanium, a metal that integrates with the patients bone and is fixed to it strongly. Now we have several types of implants for each different situation, allowing us to treat more and more people and fit the final prosthesis in less time, in most cases in one hour or one day. Most implants are sometimes placed under local anesthesia, without general anesthesia. Depending on the patient, this procedure can be carried out under a conscious sedation. A sterile field to prevent infection is prepared before the surgery. More frequently we fit the implants without any incision to the gum and no stitches. Then an incision of less than 4 mm in diameter is made and the dental implant is placed inside the bone. Finally a screw is fixed to the implant or provisional prosthesis.
