My first visit I just felt so at ease and comfortableCaroline, Ireland, 27 11 19

I went to Wendy when I have to have sleep issues and I found her approach was amazing. I felt so comfortable opening up and telling her honestly what was on my mind and I feel this was needed in order to get the help I needed and get my sleep back on track. Wendy is very professional and has an amazing ability to explain and give excellent advice. She is so good at what she does. My first visit I just felt so at ease and comfortable, the setting in the hotel is perfect. I would highly recommend Wendy to anyone that is going through a tough time personally, at work or whatever the issue may be, Wendy gave me skills that I have no doubt help me in my life going forward, thank you.

We sometimes have a laugh to make it a positive sessionSean, Ireland, 19 08 20

I started going to Brendan Markey in May 2018 for counselling at the Somer Clinic Clondalkin, I suffered horrific injuries in January 2018 and after Follow-ups with my Consultant who treated me observed me that I need Counselling as he was a concern for my well being. My GP recommend Somer clinic. Brendan was positive in getting me back me through to overcome the trauma and I was going through a tough period in 2018 and part of 2019 with recovery from the injuries along with worries of the future hold at the end of the recovery. He is a great listener and he has given back my confidence and persuaded me to be positive, open-minded, explored new ways to a new chapter and well being. He makes me relaxed and the conservation flow, He listened to my issues, and how I’m feeling with difficult with getting my independence back and he reassured me that we get there as part of wellbeing, giving me the morale boost. We sometimes have a laugh to make it a positive session. Take this opportunity to thank Brendan for his contribution in helping me in getting me back on my feet with his advice, opinion and enjoyed going to the sessions for I will see him again soon.

TraumaTrauma If you’ve gone through a traumatic experience, you may be struggling with upsetting emotions, frightening memories, or a sense of constant danger. Or you may feel numb, disconnected, and unable to trust other people. When bad things happen, it can take awhile to get over the pain and feel safe again. But with the right treatment, self-help strategies, and support, you can speed your recovery. Whether the traumatic event happened years ago or yesterday, you can heal and move on. What is emotional and psychological trauma? Emotional and psychological trauma is the result of extraordinarily stressful events that shatter your sense of security, making you feel helpless and vulnerable in a dangerous world. Traumatic experiences often involve a threat to life or safety, bu any situation that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and alone can be traumatic, even if it doesn’t involve physical harm. It’s not the objective facts that determine whether an event is traumatic, but your subjective emotional experience of the event. The more frightened and helpless you feel, the more likely you are to be traumatized. Counselling tends to associate with more short term and focused work, and Psychotherapy explores issues in greater depth and requires more commitment to longer term work. Mary Hamill Counselling & Psychotherapy Templeogue - Psychotherapy Clinic in Ireland

Mary Hamill Counselling & Psychotherapy Templeogue

Orwell Park, Templeogue, Dublin 6w, 6w
Qualified support and treatment for all areas of psychological distress.  All clients are guaranteed confidentiality, compassion and a non-judgemental space.  I work on a One-to-One basis within a therapeutic relationship where both client and therapist interact as equals.  I provide both short-term and long-term therapy, as required.Everyday life events can sometimes cause unforeseen difficulties.   A focused, short-term therapy can provide support and a fresh perspective to help understand and cope with the impact of life changes.Long-term therapy provides an opportunity to address more enduring or repetitive problems that impact on our ability to thrive.  These often arise from unconscious processes and require the presence of another to bring to our awareness for resolution to occur. I qualified as an Integrative Psychotherapist from DBS with a BA(Hons).   This degree included a range of psychotherapies that allow me to tailor fit the therapy to meet the need of each individual.  Theoretical approaches included CBT, Person-centered, Attachment & Loss, Trauma & Childhood Trauma, Psychodynamics, Existential and Family Systems. Therapy is available for the following:Anxiety and GADDepressionBereavementFamily relationshipsBorderline Personality DisorderCommunicationsAbuse including Sexual AbuseTraumaPTSDUnresolved Childhood IssuesMary Hamill is a fully accredited psychotherapist and member of ICP, IAHIP & IACP.

Area Mentis Psychotherapy - Logo

Area Mentis Psychotherapy

1A Swanville Place, Rathmines, Dublin, d6
The Area Mentis Centre provides psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and psychological services for any individual experiencing mental pain. Our practitioners have dedicated their lives to the study of how people think, act and communicate.Talking is the cornerstone of the treatment the purpose of which is to learn about oneself. Through this process, practitioners help people to identify the source of their problems and address them. Each individual's treatment is characterised by an intensely personalised approach, greatly increasing the probability of change This treatment effects change through regular weekly sessions, in which the relationship between practitioner and client supports a therapeutic discourse. During treatment, the client develops insight and self-awareness, integrating those past events that may have been traumatic or unsayable into a coherent narrative. Supported by the relationship to the therapist/analyst, the individual can scrutinize the stress and suffering in their lives within the context of their life-history: where it originates, how it is manifested and what coping behaviours have evolved to deal with it.
