Harriet Parsons has been working and studying in the area of counseling and psychotherapy for the last 11 years. Harriet is currently the training and development manager of Bodywhys, The Eating Disorders Association of Ireland, and has a very small private practice in Lumina Psychotherapy Clinic, Dun Laoghaire. Harriet works with adults mostly, and frequently with people who have an eating disorder. This is a particular area of interest and experience for Harriet, although she also has experience working with people experiencing anxiety, OCD, self-harm, relationship difficulties, and personal crises. Feel free to make contact to have a chat, and arrange an initial meeting. Therapy is a very individual experience, and it is important to meet first to see if Harriet is a 'good fit' for you and the issue you struggling with. Sometimes people attend for a short period of time, sometimes for longer. All of this can be discussed at the initial meeting.
Education & Experience: Having completed an MA in Addiction Studies, Harriet went on to gain an MSc. in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with St. Vincent's Hospital School of Psychotherapy, Dublin. She has lectured on Psychoanalysis in Dublin Business School, and eating disorders in UCD, and Independent Colleges, as well as frequently giving public talks and lectures to different relevant groups on how to understand eating disorders. Harriet regularly contributes to radio, TV, and print media, about eating disorders, body image, and supporting parents. Have a look at the video to get a sense of the way Harriet works and her understanding of one issue - eating disorders. Harriet is a registered practitioner with APPI (The Association for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in Ireland) and was chair of the organization from 2014-2015. Harriet is also a member of ICP.
