About Orla Barnes Counselling & Psychotherapy

I am qualified and accredited psychotherapist working in private practice in Malahide. I work with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, self-esteem, family and relationship issues, interpersonal abuse and trauma, perinatal mental health and infertility.

I provide short term counselling and longer term psychotherapy depending on client need.

I approach my work with warmth, empathy and non judgement and value the unique experience of each individual.  I aim to provide a warm, secure and holding relationship.  I deeply trust the enormous potential within which can be explored to move past challenges and pain, towards growth and fulfillment. 

I work online and face to face (fully adhering to Government Covid 19 guidelines)

Orla has worked for 18 years as a social worker and psychotherapist supporting children, adults and families in the areas of childhood abuse and trauma, domestic and gender based violence, addiction, mental health, homelessness and family support.  Orla has worked for Tusla- Child & Family Agency, the HSE Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and the HSE Adult Mental Health Service.

Orla is an accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapists (IAHIP).

Orla strictly adheres to the code of ethics and principles of each organisation.

Orla is also a member of the Dublin West Infant Mental Health Network and the National Women's Mental Health Network
