The first step on the patient’s journey is a consultation with our Surgeon and Medical Director Dr. Andre Nel. He will conduct a  thorough assessment of the patient’s needs & discuss the best course of action with them, providing all the information required to make a well-informed decision with realistic expectations. Dr. Nel will discuss both surgical and non-surgical options depending on the patient’s situation. Each patient will receive a detailed report with Dr. Nel's recommendations detailing what is the best way to proceed to help each person reach their goal and ultimately address their hair loss problem. It is important to note that not all patients are considered a candidate for surgery right away; and some may not be candidates at all. 

In the FUT hair transplant method, Dr. Nel will remove a strip of tissue from the donor area, as opposed to harvesting individual grafts one at a time as with FUE. The patient’s scalp is anaesthetised and the strip of tissue is taken from the donor area at the back of the head (safe donor area), where the hair grows abundantly. Then the Surgeon and the surgical team will carefully dissect the strip, using microscopic dissection techniques, into individual follicular units. These prepared follicular units are then implanted into the tiny holes the doctor has made in the recipient area. FUT Technique and Trichophytic ClosureWhen Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is performed, it leaves a linear scar in the area the surgeon removed the strip of tissue. Up to recently this was one of patients’ primary concerns with FUT; but Trichophytic Closure is a technique used by the surgeon to make the scar almost invisible.  It’s a technique that leaves a far finer scar than previous techniques and gives a better cosmetic outcome for the patient, especially when they are wearing their hair cut very short after the procedure. Trichophytic closure involves the surgeon bringing together the edges of the wound, and overlapping them as he sutures them together. He cuts one side of the skin at an oblique angle (bevelling), and then brings the adjacent skin flaps together to close up the wound. Because of the angle at which the skin has been cut, the skin from both sides of the wound will then overlap. One piece of scalp tissue now lies underneath the other one, and within that skin lie hair follicles which then slowly grow through the tissue, effectively concealing the scar as it becomes integrated into the hair.

A popular FUE hair transplant method in recent years (Follicular Unit Extraction - extraction of follicular associations) is microsurgical manipulation of obtaining grafts (grafts) and their implantation without cuts and sutures.1-3 hairs FUE operations always have a common plan:1st stage - drilling of grafts with a special microsurgical instrument (punch), extraction and processing; 2nd stage - the formation of channels for hair transplantation in the recipient zone; 3rd stage - piecewise implantation (placement) of transplants into the created channels (usually occurs in a checkerboard pattern). Mechanical way FUE The most complex transplantologist requiring high qualifications. It uses a punch inserted in a micro turbine, the rotation of which graft is removed. The doctor works in virtually one movement. As if from a hand drill it switches to electric (the difference is known to everyone). The method makes it possible to obtain very high quality grafts, reducing the percentage of "marriage" when they are extracted to zero. The surgeon must very well feel the desired depth of the punch, adjust the speed of its rotation. The small punch diameter (in the clinic - 0.6 mm), the turbine rotation speed of up to 1000 rpm, give the main advantage of the FUE method: minimal trauma and aesthetic effect. Spot micro scars that remain after the donor material collection procedure are almost invisible even on the shaved nape. After surgery, a person can wear a hairstyle of any length.Clinic surgeons are able to allocate 600-700 grafts per hour, to achieve 98% hair survival, which meets international standards.
