What is Bad Breath?

Bad breath, or halitosis, is a condition where patients have a bad odour coming from their mouths. It may be a rare temporary condition or it may be a chronic on-going condition.

What causes Bad Breath?

Bad breath is usually caused by poor oral hygiene. The bacteria that forms between teeth when patients do not brush or floss regularly cause a bad smell. Garlic and other food with strong smells can contribute to halitosis. Smoking and some medications, including chemotherapy medications, cause halitosis. Patients who go on diets sometimes suffer halitosis and patients with a health condition called dry mouth, where the mouth does not produce sufficient saliva suffer halitosis.  Fear of flying or public speaking, etc, can also trigger halitosis.

How is Bad Breath treated?

Dentists or dental hygienists will professionally clean teeth to treat halitosis. They will also give patients correct dental hygiene instructions to stop bad breath. They will treat dental problems like gum diseases to stop bad breath.

How long does recovery take after receiving a treatment for Bad Breath?

The recovery from halitosis depends on the cause and method used to treat bad breath. Some patients feel pain or sensitivity after professional dental cleaning but should recover within a day.  Patients may take a week or two to recover from gum surgery. Patients with halitosis caused by smoking will recover a few weeks after ceasing smoking.

What after care is required after receiving a treatment for Bad Breath?

Patients should practice correct dental and oral hygiene. They should follow the advice of their dentist or hygienist correctly.

Bad Breath Treatment
Bad breath, medically called halitosis, can result frompoor dental health habits and may be a sign of other health problems. Badbreath can also be made worse by the types of foods you eat and other unhealthylifestyle habits. Bad breath can be reduced or prevented if you: Practice good oral hygiene. Brush twice a day with fluoridetoothpasteto remove food debris and plaque. Brush your teeth after you eat (keep a toothbrush at work or school to brush after lunch). Dont forget to brushyour tongue, too. Replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months. Use floss or aninterdental cleaner to remove food particles and plaque between your teeth oncea day. Dentures should be removed at night and cleaned thoroughly before beingplaced in your mouth the next morning. See your dentist regularly - at least twice a year. He or she will conductan oral examination and professional teeth cleaning and will be able detect andtreat periodontal disease, dry mouth, or other problems that may be the causeof bad mouth odor. Stop smoking/chewing tobacco-based products. Ask your dentist for tips onkicking the habit. Drink lots of water. This will keep your mouth moist. Chewing gum(preferably sugarless) or sucking on candy (preferably sugarless) alsostimulates the production of saliva, which helps wash away food particles andbacteria. Keep a log of the foods you eat. If you think the foods that you eat may becausing your bad breath, record what you eat. Bring the log to your dentist toreview. Similarly, make a list of the medications you take. Some medicationsmay play a role in creating mouth odors.
Bone Graft 5230528 ₫ - 6538159 ₫
Bone grafting procedures are much more straightforward than most patients think. When a patient consults with a implant dentist about teeth implant treatment, he or she will first assess the density of bone in the patients jaw. If it is found that there is not enough bone to continue with dental implant treatment, the implant dentist may advise a bone graft procedure. Next, the implant dentist will discuss different types of bone grafts with the patient, before deciding on the most suitable one. Once this has been decided upon, the bone graft procedure will be performed. Below is a brief outline of the treatment: First, the gum at the site of the bone graft is cut, to create a flap of skin. After exposing the jawbone, the bone graft material is placed onto the site. This bone graft material is covered with a protective membrane to protect the bone from germs, and ensure that the bone heals properly. Finally, the gum flap is replaced and carefully sutured. After it is determined that the site of the bone graft has fully healed, the implant dentist may begin placing dental implants. Also known as teeth implants, these dental implants usually require an additional healing period of around 3-6 months.
