What is Bad Breath?

Bad breath, or halitosis, is a condition where patients have a bad odour coming from their mouths. It may be a rare temporary condition or it may be a chronic on-going condition.

What causes Bad Breath?

Bad breath is usually caused by poor oral hygiene. The bacteria that forms between teeth when patients do not brush or floss regularly cause a bad smell. Garlic and other food with strong smells can contribute to halitosis. Smoking and some medications, including chemotherapy medications, cause halitosis. Patients who go on diets sometimes suffer halitosis and patients with a health condition called dry mouth, where the mouth does not produce sufficient saliva suffer halitosis.  Fear of flying or public speaking, etc, can also trigger halitosis.

How is Bad Breath treated?

Dentists or dental hygienists will professionally clean teeth to treat halitosis. They will also give patients correct dental hygiene instructions to stop bad breath. They will treat dental problems like gum diseases to stop bad breath.

How long does recovery take after receiving a treatment for Bad Breath?

The recovery from halitosis depends on the cause and method used to treat bad breath. Some patients feel pain or sensitivity after professional dental cleaning but should recover within a day.  Patients may take a week or two to recover from gum surgery. Patients with halitosis caused by smoking will recover a few weeks after ceasing smoking.

What after care is required after receiving a treatment for Bad Breath?

Patients should practice correct dental and oral hygiene. They should follow the advice of their dentist or hygienist correctly.

Rating from 65 Reviews Very professional service during my Root Canal TreatmentWilliam, Vietnam, 06 Sep 16

The treatment that I had was a for a root canal, not a pleasant experience but a necessary requirement. This took four visits to the dentist, a Miss Tien who was extremely professional with the treatment and explained on each visit what was going to happen, which for a guy like myself helps because I dread the visit`s to the dentist. I may add that all the staff are very helpful and polite. The best dentist that I know in Saigon and would recommend to all my friends and colleagues.. Value-- A good question how much value do you put on your teeth and your smile.. Started with this clinic when it was run and owned by Dr Andrew H.F.Tsang which through is excellent knowledge and care just kept me coming back--Lovely guy. my visits each time are always are met with the same excellent service as if Dr. Andrew was still there..

The dental work was exceptional and my dentist Dr Tien was so gentle and did such a great jobLouise, Vietnam, 23 Sep 16

Myself and my husband had quite extensive work done over a period of around 2 weeks. We needed several crowns new and replacement of old plus fillings and a teeth clean. It was the most extensive clean I have ever had and took 1 hour for $40 usd. Excellent! The dental work was exceptional and my dentist Dr Tien was so gentle and did such a great job. I have my smile back. Amanda the practice manager was warm and welcoming and so helpful via email before our trip and a lovely lady too. She was very informative about local culture and recommended travel agents and places to visit. After every visit she took time to talk to us and reassure us about any queries we had. The dentists were amazing and I truly mean that. Gentle, professional, informative and masters of their trade. We will be back for a check-up in the future.

My eight front teeth had very bad shape. It makes me unconfident in communication. Three weeks ago, I came to Tu Xuong Dental Clinic in District 3 to find out the solution. I have just done 8 porcelain veneers last week by Dr. Do Van Hai at Tu Xuong. Now, my smile is much better and I feel confident in daily communication. I know that I have made the right decision when I chose Tu Xuong to take care of my teeth. I chose Tu Xuong Dental Clinic for my teeth improvement due to its affordable price. More importantly, I can feel the enthusiasm of Dr. Hai with his assistant. The clinic is clean and friendly. I will introduce this clinic to my family and my friends who have teeth problems.

Rating from 5 Reviews Always happy with the serviceGreg, Shanghai, 17 Feb 16

We have been to Skara for the past four years and are always happy with the service we receive. The staff are very friendly and. Accommodating. Something to note- my wife and I live in Shanghai and travel to HCMC often. We only go to Sakara for our dental work. That's how good they are.

The facility is spotless, the service is professional and highly competentKevin, US, 17 Apr 18

I am from California and decided to explore a dental holiday. I had four new upper crowns to be done and came to Sakura Dental Clinic without making prior arrangements. The Clinic was absolutely fabulous. The facility is spotless, the service is professional and highly competent. In less than two weeks, my crowns perfectly fit and matched my other teeth. For less than half the price I would have paid in the US, I was given a smile to be proud of. It is now nearly 1 year and everything is still great. Overall, I had a great dental adventure and would highly recommend this clinic to anyone.
