I had a dreadful set of front teeth, badly chipped and stained from my love of red wine, coffee, and cigars. Veneers are expensive in the UK, and so treatment abroad seemed to be a possible option. Turkey? Well, the clinic offered CEREC, which meant all work done on one day, so no repeat visits. One trip, all done. The reviews on websites seemed to commend the clinic, so I began correspondence, sending photographs (pretty gruesome on a twenty-two inch monitor, believe me!). I was nervous about travelling so far for dental work, but the Foreign Patient Manager allayed my fears, and off I flew to Istanbul. First impression of the clinic was that I had never seen such a pristine environment in a dentist practice. Over-socks provided to cover shoes, clean toilet facilities, and modern equipment the like of which I had never seen. Dr. Ilhan is nothing short of a craftsman in teeth! He has all of the science, of course, but also is careful, considerate, and kind, allowing no one too long in the chair. The result is a set of perfectly ordinary-looking teeth, but twenty years younger than the ones I showed up with. The assistance of Meilke, Maltepe Clinic's Foreign Patient Manager, was invaluable. She made the appointment fit with a tight travel schedule, organised airport pickups, recommended hotels, and even told me where to get a good dinner. Charming and efficient. The clinic is super modern, the staff is friendly, and considerate; the overriding impression was of impeccable cleanliness and a commitment to patient care. I shall return soon for more work, and hopefully, this time see a little more of a magical city!
