What are Mini Implants?

Mini implants are small screws measuring 1.8 to 3mm that can be placed in one day for patients. They also act as a tooth root and can retain crowns and bridges. Placing a mini implant is a minimally invasive procedure. The patient’s existing denture is placed on the implants or a new denture is fabricated.  Mini implants do not need as much bone structure as regular implants. Mini implants are also cheaper than regular implants.

How is the Mini Implant procedure performed?

The dentist drills a hole in the bone of the patient's jaw. The mini implant is screwed into the bone.  The denture is then fitted with metal fasteners that fasten the denture to the ball shape of the head of the mini implant. Mini implants are placed using local anaesthesia or intra-venous sedation. Patients should not feel any pain during the procedure.

Can I travel by air after the placement of Mini Implants?

Patients can travel by air one day after mini implants are placed. They should ask the advice of their dentist before embarking on their journey.

What is the recovery time after the placement of Mini Implants?

Patients recover from a mini implant procedure within a day.

What care is required after the placement of Mini Implants?

Patients should use a soft brush and rinse their mouths gently after mini implants are inserted. They should not smoke or drink alcohol. They should take all prescribed medications correctly. Patients can apply ice packs to the swollen area to bring down the swelling. They should eat soft food or follow a liquid diet for at least a week. They should avoid eating hard food products. They should sleep with their head elevated until the swelling reduces.

What are the alternatives to the placement of Mini Implants?

Traditional dentures and partial dentures, also called fixed or removable bridges, are alternatives to mini implants.

They are extemely helpful and will do everything possible to assist you in your dental careDaryl, San Dimas, 21 05 16

I saw the dentist yesterday May 20th 2016 and I had a very rewarding experience. I am having Implants and they answered all of my questions. I plan on using this Dentist from now on. I love the treatment and everyone went above and beyond their job titles. They are extemely helpful and will do everything possible to assist you in your dental care. I heard from a friend in the Philippines that he used this person 20 years ago and was amazed at how helpful they were in doing his care. He shared the name of the person so i googled the name found her and called. I made an appointment went in and now have made a decision that this is my dentist from now on. I also want you to know I have a PPO Delta Dental and prefer to use this faculty instead of anyone in the USA.

Everything was done perfectly since day 1.Robert, Anthem, 12 10 17

A complete dental replacement: crowns, partial and upper dental ate. The work done was of the highest quality and D.D.S. Leonardo Vazquez performed the best dental work I have ever had. The quality was better than any dentist I ever had in the USA. The added bonus was the cost, which was thousands of dollars less than any dentist would charge in the USA. I had the work done 6 months ago and have had no problems and everything was done perfectly since day 1. After doing some research on dentists in Mexico, Alberta Dental and D.D.S. Leonardo Vazquez was easily the top choice. Immediately, when talking with Dentist Vazquez, I knew doing the work properly and with the correct material was how He would solve My dental problems. Also, the work was done properly the first time and I never needed to go back for any adjustments or problems. Quality work and a more than reasonable price are what you'll receive at Alberta Dental.

They seemed pleased with their past resultsSusan, US, 20 01 20

Very tiny dental office. Four chairs and a couch crammed into a reception area along with a reception counter. The receptionist seemed knowledgeable about the policies and procedures of the office. Both my husband and I had appointments for a consult. We were first seen by a very young general dentist. He seemed knowledgeable. He poked and prodded and took the dental X-rays. He then told me what he thought I needed based on his exam. I then saw the implant specialist. He sent me across the way to have a panoramic X-ray before finalizing his treatment plan for me. (The panoramic X-ray cost me $150. I reasoned that I could use it for all the consults I had scheduled. Turns out the second dentist did a more in-depth 3D scan but didn’t charge me. We’ll see if the third dentist uses it.). In the meantime, the dentist saw my husband, who had requested an implant for a missing tooth pulled this past summer. My husband jumped in with both feet and accepted the offer to get an implant right then and there. He had his teeth cleaned for $30 and an implant inserted for $900 in about a half-hour. He will return in several months to have the crown put on the implant (additional charge). He was given a prescription for antibiotics and pain pills, which he filled next door at a pharmacy for about $15. Oddly enough it was the receptionist who wrote and signed the prescription. My treatment plan was more complex. It involved several implants for long-missing teeth, a sinus lift, new crowns for several front teeth. Some of the work they would do right away and some after months of healing took place. I declined to have anything done as I had appointments with two more dentists for consults. I left with an estimate for $7700, which is a whole lot better than the plan from back home of $22,000. The two things that I was not particularly comfortable with was; 1) When I paid the bill with a personal check, I was asked not to fill in the “payable to” section. I inquired as to the reason for that. I was first laughingly told by the receptionist that it was so she could go shopping. 2). The two exam rooms are barely big enough for a dental chair, the dentist and a dental tech are connected. It’s actually one bigger room set up exactly the same on both sides of a separation wall. You can hear everything that is being said and done on the other side of the wall. But I don’t believe Mexico has a HIPPA law! I believe there was a third small exam room located next to the tiny bathroom. This is just not the office for someone with claustrophobia or privacy concerns. Communication was not an issue, as all staff I had interaction with spoke English. I also observed good hygiene practices. Three of the patients I spoke with while waiting were repeated patients. They seemed pleased with their past results. My husband’s implant seems to be healing well. It required nothing for pain after the first 24 hours. Dental Departures facilitated this visit and sent us several appointment reminders.

Dr. Zuman is " la creme de la creme"Alan, US, 03 08 16

I come in regularly from Palm Springs area. I have had my share of incompetent, overpriced dentists in Palm Springs that think they are gifted and entitled to gouging patients. Dr. Zuman is vey honest, accomplished, caring, empathic, spotlessly clean office, state of the art tech. Clients fly in from the Bay area and Las Vegas, etc. He is in high demand. I have had implant and bone grafting done, not to mention root canals, crowns, and extractions. Dr. Zuman is " la creme de la creme. " and the price is right. A, Rancho Mirage I heard about Dr. Charles Zuman through some friends. Los Algodones is an experience in itself and quite an adventure. Lots of merchandise and always bargaining with the merchants. Pharmacies are everywhere as are optometrists and very stylish glasses like here in the U.S. Usually a free eye exam is included. Food is delicious and safe. Parking is $6.00 on the U.S. side in a security parking lot. Customs is very easy. Just declare what you bought. Casino on U.S. side iis very modern with nice restaurant(s) and Vegas like casino. Lodging and swimming pool.
