Treatment Received: Extractions
Thanks to Dr Paul O Connell for seeing me on Monday morning. I had a toothache. He fitted me in even though he was so busy and got me an appointment next day for tooth extraction.

I highly recommend this dental clinic. Mill in reception was so helpful.

"the whole dental team treated me so well & kindly"
5 50Reviewed 11 May 2016 Review verified by phone and email.
Treatment Received: White Filling,Composite Veneers
I want to say a million thank yous to Dr Paul O'Connel, the dental assistant & also to the oral hygienist. I had the 6month smile braces done before by a different dentist & once my teeth were straightened my front teeth were discolored. Dr Paul did white fillings & they were really good but the discoloration was so bad it was still noticeable & then I got the composite veneers done & oh my God they turned out amazing the discoloration is now completely unoticable my teeth now look like something from a magazine they're so straight & match perfectly with my natural teeth & they look so natural as well it was €800 for my two front teeth to be veneered it might seem a bit dear but the whole dental team treated me so well & kindly & even though I'd sensitive teeth from years ago the dentist & the oral hygienist really made sure that I wasn't in any pain throughout the entire process of the treatment. This made a big difference to me, & i've no doubt it will also help someone that might be putting off going to the dentist or also for people that have a fear of needles. if you go here you will be treated very well by this dental team, I will be moving out of Co. limerick but this dentist is so good that i'll actually travel to go back again in the future for any other treatment

My experience has been phenomenal during all of the treatment Dr Paul O'Connel & the oral hygienist made sure that I wasn't in any pain, I'd recommend the composite veneers to anyone. The clinic was so clean & you don't have to wait to long to be seen like if an appointment is at 11am then you'll be seen either at that time or very close to it, all the staff are very efficient, friendly & just lovely people there.

"Was not made feel welcome"
1 50Reviewed 28 Jul 2015 Review verified by phone and email.
Treatment Received: Dentist Consultation
I have been suffering from tooth ache for a few days and Old Quarter Dental was recommended to me so I phoned them. They seemed very nice on the phone and gave me a slot ASAP which was great. I saw on WhatClinic that they accepted medical cards (which I never even knew dentists accepted) and so I thought this was the best place to go. I am not from Limerick and have never attended a dentist there before. I just had an X-Ray and a quick examination to find the cause of the toothache.

I had a pretty bad experience overall if I'm being completely honest. I left feeling deflated, even though I found out why I had been suffering from toothache. When I presented at reception I asked the receptionist about the medical card and the tone changed thereafter from a pleasant one to a negative one. I was curtly told that I should have told them on the phone about the medical card and that they were not accepting new medical card patients even though it states so on their WhatClinc page. If their position on medical cards had changed then their details on their WhatClinic page should have been updated. It was not a nice start to my appointment. Then I proceeded to be examined by the dentist who gave me my diagnosis and listed the steps of his management plan. When I asked him to explain this further he got quite snappy and seemed bothered that I asked for an explanation of his management plan. I was told that he was stuck for time and when I asked him would he be doing the procedure today he told me I seemed undecided and that I should go think about it and again that he was stuck for time. Maybe it was a particularly busy day, but I got the sense that I was being rushed out of there and it felt like this all stemmed from the fact that I was a medical card patient. Regardless of whether a patient is private or public, they should be made to feel welcome. I did not feel this way so I will not be going back there for treatment.

Advice on how to use sensodyne to calm the tooth

No treatment was needed yet. Advised to use sensodyne and wait until tooth had settled down. If not to seek treatment. I was not charged even though he had taken two x-rays. He explained everything clearly and could not have been more helpful. I would highly recommend him.
