Patient centred counselling is offered by this expert and experienced psychotherapist to help patients overcome a wide range of emotional and mental issues. She works from clinics located at South County Dublin, Churchtown in Dublin and at Kildare. All services are provided in a safe, non-judgmental and private environment and customized according to the specific challenges affecting individual patients. Conditions treated include anxiety and depression, loneliness, bereavement, lack of self-esteem, trauma, abuse, bereavement, anger, relationship difficulties and fear. Services provided include person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and psychosynthesis or a combination of therapies.

I am a professionally qualified counsellor psychotherapist holding a BSc (Hons.) in Counselling and Psychotherapy.  Having a commitment to continued professional development, I have a Certificate in Gestalt Therapy and am currently undertaking training in issues of sexual violence with the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. I am a fully accredited member of IACP and adhere to their professional standards and code of ethics in my practice. My training is humanistic and integrative incorporating person centred, psychodynamic, CBT and Gestalt therapies. I adapt my approach to that which is most appropriate and beneficial for the client. Central to my way of working is to create a safe, confidential and compassionate space where clients can begin a process of exploring aspects of their lives which are of concern to them. I have many years experience working with people in the area of mental health and wellbeing, including over four years working as a counsellor psychotherapist in Pieta House supporting people struggling with suicidal thoughts and engaging in deliberate self-harm. I am experienced in working with clients presenting with issues such as Depression, Stress and Anxiety, Loss and Grief, Relationship Issues, Low Self Esteem, Spirituality, Suicide and Deliberate Self Harm. I work empathically and collaboratively with adult individuals on a one to one basis.

At Niamh Suttels Counselling and Psychotherapy, a warm, confidential, and safe space is offered to all individuals aged 16 and over who are struggling in any area of their life. Based in Rathangan, Co. Kildare accessible in both County Kildare and Offaly, Niamh aims to provide clients with time and a listening ear to explore their past and present wounds to begin to heal their own relationship with self. As well as offering support in the areas of depression, anxiety, bereavement and loss, Niamh has extensive experience in supporting clients through the complex nature of abusive relationships and the emotional and psychological trauma that can come with it. She understands that whether you are in an abusive relationship or have left one, someone who believes you and understands that it is not your fault is an important step in beginning to heal. Niamh also has a keen interest in helping people who have an autoimmune disease overcome the psychological affects that can co-exist with such an illness. Depression and anxiety are more likely to effect a person who has an autoimmune disease and research has shown that psychotherapy can provide ways to help support a person in understanding and coming to terms with adjusting to life after a diagnosis. Niamh is a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist having completed her degree in IICP in 2017. Niamh has continued to broaden her education by completing a BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy with ICPPD.

I specialise in the treatment of alcohol abuse and help clients achieve where possible moderation management.
