Darren is a qualified Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist, a graduate of Turning Point Training Institute and Dublin City University (DCU) (Level 9).
The course is one of the leading training courses in Ireland and is recognised by the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) and the European Association for Integrative Psychotherapy (EAIP).
Darren has worked for the past seven years in Mental Health with organisations such as University College Dublin (UCD), Newlands Institute for Counselling, Personal Counselling Center Naas & the Samaritans
Darren's theoretical background is in Humanistic/Integrative psychotherapy while incorporating psychodynamic and cognitive behaviour therapy. This approach to therapy acknowledges the unique nature of every client and allows for a therapeutic approach that best meets the requirements of each individual.
Central to Darren's clinical practice is the importance of the therapeutic relationship thereby creating a safe and confidential space from which a client can explore the challenges experienced in life and develop the skills and resources within themselves to deal with these challenges and overcome obstacles.
Darren works within the IACP and the IAHIP Code of Ethics and Practice. His work is fully insured and he attends regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional best practice
Darren is currently completing his Masters on how psychotherapy can better meet the needs of men in Ireland.
Qualifications;
MSc in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy – Dublin City University (Ongoing)
PG Dip Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling (Level 9) – Dublin City University.
Certificate in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Studies  – IICP.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) – HSE  Approved  – University College Dublin.
Advanced Certificate in Suicidal intervention training.
