Life can be difficult at times.  Life events such as bereavement, divorce or job losses can cause you to become anxious or depressed.  You may have experienced trauma in your past which is still causing you pain today. Perhaps you are coping with a loved one's addiction or other mental illness.  When life is challenging it can feel as if you are just existing from one crisis to the next.  It takes courage to admit you are struggling and need help to cope. Talking to friends can help but sometimes you might need something more.  Family and friends can struggle to remain objective in the face of your pain and distress. Talking through your difficulties with a trusted therapist in a confidential, non-judgemental setting allows you the space to gain a clearer understanding and acceptance of yourself and helps you to make changes and decisions that enrich your life. My practice is located in Sallins, Co. Kildare where I offer one-to-one therapy with individuals aged 18 and over. I have day time and evening sessions strictly by appointment only.

Paula O'Connor Psychotherapy & Counselling

15 The Crescent, St.Wolstan's Abbey, Celbridge, W23 NX43
I am a qualified psychotherapist  with a BA(Hons) degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy and I am a accredited member of IAHIP (Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy & Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP).  Since my qualification I have also acquired a professional certificate in the following areas: Bereavement Studies, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), The Dynamics of Attachment in Adult life and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). My approach to my work is integrative and humanistic, a module that encourages the distinctly human quality of choice and creativity and emphasizes the hopeful view of human beings and their ability to be self-determining. I use the analogy of the therapist being the person supporting the client by holding the blank canvas while the client creates their many works of art. I work with adults on a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, post natal depression, bereavement, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, suicidal issues and sexual abuse.  To enable clients to work on their own masterpieces creating a safe, non-judgemental compassionate listening space is a fundamental aim in my work as a therapist.

It was good to do the work on myselfBarry, Ireland, 11 10 23

CBT therapy for anxiety. I liked how this therapy challenged me. Justine’s CBT helped me to take responsibility for myself. It was good to do the work on myself. This is not the type of therapy for wasting time and if you are not committed to do the work on yourself. It paid off for me.
