Educational Background & Training
Born in Dublin, I hold a QQI Level 9 Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from University College Cork.
In order to be granted this formal qualification I spent four years training with Turning Point Institute in Dublin also earning their Diploma in Integrative Clinical Psychotherapy
This course is recognized by the IACP. IAHIP & EAP accrediting bodies as a fully accredited training for the practice of Psychotherapy in Ireland.
I work from an integrative model with a strong Person Centered & Psychodynamic foundation .
Where appropriate I can use solution focused and cognitive models specifically for short term counselling & work related issues.
Attending regular clinical supervision, I continue to develop my skills with regular CPD trainings, having recently completed courses linked to suicide intervention (ASSIST) & working with survivors of domestic abuse.
Prior to Psychotherapy
Before I completed my psychotherapy training, I had a fourteen year career in the corporate sector having received my Bachelors Degree in Business from Trinity College Dublin.
It was experiences during my times with some large corporations that first sparked my interest in the area of counselling & psychotherapy, leading me to complete a foundation certificate in counselling with PCI college prior to starting a full four year training.
Additionally, I have 6 years of experience in volunteering with vulnerable people of all age groups, the bulk of which has been in youth advocacy for Foróige but also more recently advocating for vulnerable people affected by the housing crisis.
