What is a Panoramic X-Ray?

A panoramic X-ray is an X–ray machine that takes a two dimensional image of the entire mouth. It is quicker to take than a traditional dental X-ray and the image is clearer. A dentist can diagnose a range of problems by viewing one image.    

How is a Panoramic X-Ray performed?

Patients will be asked to stand or sit against the machine and bites a plastic blade. The machine moves around the skull of the patient to take a comprehensive image of the jaws of the patient.  

Is taking a Panoramic X-Ray image painful?

Patients will not experience any pain or discomfort when a panoramic X-ray image is taken.  

What does a Panoramic X-Ray show?

Panoramic X-rays show cavities, infections, tumours including bone tumours, cysts, wisdom teeth, jaw lesions, gum lesions, tooth misalignment and fractures.

Are Panoramic X-Rays safe?

Panoramic X-rays are safe and use a very small amount of radiation. The patient is subjected to 40 percent less radiation than a traditional dental X-ray. It helps dentists diagnose problems in a single image. There is no need to take repeated X-rays. This makes it a safe imaging instrument.  It is also easy to disinfect a panoramic X-ray machine after each imaging procedure. Panoramic X-ray images should not be taken of pregnant women.

Couldn’t recommend Seapoint Clinic more. The staff are honestly some of the friendliest I’ve ever come across, really warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in. I’m quite a nervous patient, but they made the whole experience feel calm and reassuring. Everything was explained clearly, and I never felt rushed or judged. The place is spotless and has a lovely, calm atmosphere too. I left feeling surprisingly at ease and actually feel good about coming back (which is saying a lot for me!). Big thanks to the whole team.

Absolutely kind lovely staff who actually care about you the patient in how they can help your situation with best solution with reasurrence patience especially with a terrified patient like me even gave me a stress ball to squeeze (that actually helped ) without mentioning prices and other extras that your told you need by another dentist does but have to make another appointment for a chat and get charged, lost faith when I realised Money first, clients second, I lost trust in dentists until I went to Garveys Tower road clondalkin. P.S. Sorry for the rant, but needed to point out GREAT DENTIST TO TERRIBLE ONES. THANK YOU

I had the same experience. Dr Darren McCourt is the nearest thing to meeting God. I was told everywhere I went that I didn’t have a chance of getting the work I so badly craved to get done. Talk about the work of a true professional without all the unnecessary complications, he took me in, along with his fabulous assistant Emer and within 2.5 hours, he had all the first schedule of work done in that treatment. He has not only given me my smile back, but he has restored my faith in human nature again and lots of belief that there is hope. I am the happiest client ever, my implants are amazing, and they have given me my smile back as well as my confidence. Dr Connor and her team are friendly, professional and dedicated to dentistry. I chose them because they were 30 to 35% cheaper than the 2 other quotes I got and the reviews were really good. At my consultation, the plan was set out, with the time scale & a quote offering a choice to pay in stages or in full with a 10% discount (which I took). I also got €800 back from Revenue. Reducing my bill from €4,400 to €3,200. excellent choice for my bank balance also my teeth were ready within the time scale. Very happy for me. Thank you Happy Dental.
