Gastric sleeve is a simple procedure. We access the abdominal area laparoscopically (keyhole surgery) and remove about 80% of the stomach by cutting it along its length. After sleeve surgery, the food you eat enters and exits the stomach via the same places as before (unlike gastric bypass), but you have a much smaller stomach. The sheath helps you lose weight in two ways. It reduces the capacity of your stomach and also changes the balance of hormones and proteins in the stomach. The change in the intestinal hormones, including GLP1, alters and reduces the appetite. Therefore, we expect patients with hives to lose weight quickly. It is important to note that your weight loss is not directly related to the size of your remaining stomach. AYT Clinic gave me outstanding results and support on 2 occasions. In December, I had some facial surgery and recently a gastrectomy. The team go over and beyond to do everything for you. The hospitals are 5-star; the 2 surgeons I’ve had were Dr Manav (face) and Dr Namik Yilmaz, who are famous for their procedures not only in Turkey but all over Europe. Their reputations really are outstanding. The recovery has been great. I am now home, and recovery is going really well; I feel amazing! This surgery consists of two surgical techniques. In the first stage, the stomach volume is brought to a smaller size from the midline of the tube and the most restrictive effect is seen. The operation allows the stomach to take the shape of a tubular tube extending through the small curvature. The avarage volüme of the stomach is about 150 – 200 cc. There are 2 weight loss mechanism in this surgery; restrictive and hormonal effect. Feeling of satiety with little food after vertically collapsing the stomach is a restrictive effect. The hormonal effect is the loss of appetite with reduced release of the ghrelin hormone produced by the cells in the fundus, which is the upper part of the stomach. After the operation, the patients lose about 65-70% of their excess weight in about 12 months.One of the greatest advantages of operation of the tube gastric (sleeve gastrectomy) is that there is no problem in the intake of vitamins and minerals since there is no operation that affects the absorption.
