Dry needling or myofascial trigger point needling is a treatment therapy using accupuncture needles to deactivate trigger points. Dry needling performed by a Sligo Physical Therapist/Physiotherapist can be very effective in alleviating pain or dysfunction in the skeletal muscle. Used correctly, this technique can be very effective in helping with muscle, nerve and joint pain. At Sligo Physical Therapy/Physiotherapy we use dry needles to treat a range of conditions like back pain, neck pain and shoulder pain. Dry needles are solid filiform needles that are inserted into the muscle. Acupuncture is an eastern based philosophy based on the theory of chi flow throughout the bodys meridians. Dry needling is a western philsophy.
