I left with significantly more movement and flexibility and less pain or discomfort

5 50 Physiotherapist Consultation

Troy was very professional, courteous and polite. He quickly established where the problem and painful areas in my upper arms, shoulders and neck were. As a result of his working systematically on these problematic areas for some time, and listening carefully to what was working for me and not too painful, I left with significantly more movement and flexibility and less pain or discomfort.

Excellent. Have made a further appointment as a result.

Biomechanical assessment

Biomechanical assessment - Sligo Physical TherapyBiomechanical assessment - Sligo Physical Therapy
  • A biomechanical assessmentis based on the cause-and-effect relationship between your foot, legs and upper body. The movement of one joint has an effect on the movements of other joints, and every time your

    foot

hits the ground to take a step, any imbalances in the feet can have an effect on the rest of the body.

  • What Does A Biomechanical Assessment Involve?

  • A biomechanical assessment involves analyzing the body, its alignment and how it functions. If you are experiencing pain in your feet,

    lower limbs

    or

    back

, a biomechanical assessment can be very beneficial to you.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling - Sligo Physical TherapyDry Needling - Sligo Physical Therapy
Dry needling or myofascial trigger point needling is a treatment therapy using accupuncture needles to deactivate trigger points. Dry needling performed by a Sligo Physical Therapist/Physiotherapist can be very effective in alleviating pain or dysfunction in the skeletal muscle. Used correctly, this technique can be very effective in helping with muscle, nerve and joint pain. At Sligo Physical Therapy/Physiotherapy we use dry needles to treat a range of conditions like back pain, neck pain and shoulder pain. Dry needles are solid filiform needles that are inserted into the muscle. Acupuncture is an eastern based philosophy based on the theory of chi flow throughout the bodys meridians. Dry needling is a western philsophy.

Spinal Rehabilitation - Neck and Back Injury

Spinal Rehabilitation - Neck and Back Injury - Sligo Physical TherapySpinal Rehabilitation - Neck and Back Injury - Sligo Physical Therapy

General non-specific pain is the most common type of low back pain.  It’s described as a low back ache, soreness, or pain; and usually not caused by a specific event.  It’s unpredictable and can begin without warning.

The many causes of back pain are as varied as the people who experience it. There are often a combination of factors involved, but most people with non-specific low back pain will fall into 1 of 2 categories:

  1. Back pain caused by

    lack of motion

    , or

    hypomobility.

  2. Back pain caused by excessive motion, or

    hypermobility.
