What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are anti-aging products that are injected into the skin of patients to add volume. They are injected to make skin that is sagging or has become wrinkled because of age look smooth and plump. They are also called injectable facial fillers, injectable cosmetic fillers or soft tissue fillers.  They are made of hyaluronic acid taken from animals or from the fat of the patient. It takes five minutes to an hour to perform dermal filler procedures.  

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

Dermal fillers last from six months to five years. They are not permanent and are absorbed by the skin over time.  

Is the administration of Dermal Fillers painful?

Local anaesthetic is applied to the skin before dermal filler injections are administered. Patients will feel the pain of the injection during the procedure and after the anaesthetic wears off, for a few days. Some fillers contain an analgesic substance called lidocaine. These fillers are less painful than other fillers.   

When can I travel by air after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should wait one week after getting dermal fillers injected before travelling by air. Air travel can aggravate the swelling and bruising that may occur after dermal fillers are injected.   

How long does recovery take after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Recovery from dermal filler injections may take seven to fourteen days. Recovery depends on each individual patient.  

What after care is required after the administration of Dermal Fillers?

Patients should avoid smoking and drinking alcohol until any swelling has subsided. They should avoid touching their face for at least one day. They should avoid going in direct sunlight for at least two days. They should drink plenty of water after the treatment. They should not get any beauty treatments done on their face for at least a week. They should avoid strenuous exercises and lifting heavy objects for at least a month. They should avoid blood thinning medications for a few weeks.  Patients should perform facial exercises for a few hours after the procedure.

I want to be clear, my experience with customer service was greatJori, Canada, 22 09 23

I did have a small issue. I went in for lip and nasolabial fold filler. I read online that skinvitality pushes treatments on their costumers but I did not have this experience. Exactly what I already knew I wanted is what they recommended and that is all. The women who did my assessment was wonderful. So was my injector. Everybody working was incredibly kind. When the treatment was finished I was absolutely in love with the results, but as the 2 weeks went by and the swelling went down, my nasolabial fold filler didn't seem to take. I started to investigate online and came across some horrible reviews about customer service and became a little worried I wouldnt be able to get a touch up to fix the issue. I want to be clear, my experience with customer service was great! I'm not sure what happened with others to where they didn't have a good experience but that was not the case for me at all. When I went back for a follow up appointment the injector did see that the filler didn't really take but began to massage the area I had filled and it improved the look of it drastically. I was told "sometimes you just have to massage the filler into place to fix the problem" after she messaged my nasolabial fold area, I looked in the mirror and it looked significantly better. She took photos and I was happy with how it looked after the follow up appointment. But by the next day, it went back to how it looked before she massaged the area and again I was extremely unhappy. It looked as if I hadn't had any filler at all. When patient care was reviewing my complaint, the pictures they were sent were the ones taken AFTER my injector had massaged the area, and it did not show the issue I was complaining about. Even so, they still offered me a touch up free of charge. I sent my own before and after pictures in an email to show what it ACTUALLY looked like the day after the area was massaged (which wasn't good) to ensure them that I would not have asked for a free touch up if it continued to look as good as it did after the injector massaged the area. I thanked her and ensured her that I would continue using their service after such amazing costumer service despite the pictures they recieved from the injector looking like there actually had been an improvement.

Cannot stress enough how wonderful and efficient are the clinic staff, even when one's business has been rare (1-2 visits a year) and fairly basic (filler). *Permission obtained to include names: I have been assisted by *several staff including Lusiana, who is ineffably patient and compassionate, and Nicole and Lucy have been helpful and understanding (Life happens: traffic, rescheduling, etc.). It makes SUCH a difference. Dr. Weinberg reflects the caring vibe of his clinic: he asks what you are looking for and then actually listens to your answers. As importantly (!) he is a sculptural artist with a keen eye who can see where the smallest adjustments will have the biggest impact. There is clearly immense skill involved, but when the work is so subtle - rejuvenating someone's best version of themselves - I think that's a gift. He was recommended to a friend years ago, who then recommended him to me, and I am very grateful to have been so directed. The Mssga clinic has parking, but is close by a major intersection and so a direct bus + quick walk from Port Credit GO station.
