Laser hair removal technology uses a beam of laser light and a constant source of heat that penetrates the hair follicle, destroying it at its root while protecting the surrounding skin.  The procedure targets the melanin or pigmentation in the root of the hair follicle.  The best candidates for laser hair removal are those people with dark hair and fair or un-tanned skin. Laser hair removal is only possible when the hair is in its anagen phase (the active growth phase).  Although he process is precise and beneficial, it can e irritating to the skin-therefore it is important that the surrounding skin be cooled with a gel or cooling device throughout the procedure.  These cooling systems prevent the laser light beam from causing harm or discomfort to the surrounding skin.
