It's been a seamless, pain-free procedureGary, US, 17 06 21

I am currently in the process of my first implant @ Icon Dental in Nogales, Mexico. Had a broken crown with most of the tooth. Since the office is several miles from the Dennis Concini border crossing Icon Dental was there to meet me, drive me to the office and then back to the border. Really makes it nice. The first & only response from a total of 4 online inquires was from Beatrice "Betty" Avila with Icon. Over the phone, she answered all of my questions on different treatments, procedures & pricing after I told her about breaking a tooth along with the crown. Beatrice is absolutely excellent. First, we went for 3D imaging and then to Icon's beautiful, modern offices. Here I met Dr. Alejandro Valdes (Periodontist & implant specialist), Dr. Adrian Valera and Dental Assistant Paola Ayala. First off they are great listeners. After the 3D imaging, there was an exam and cleaning. It was determined I would have a tooth implant rather than a 3 crown bridge. The tooth extraction took only a few minutes and it was decided to go ahead with the implant at the same time. Bought the prescribed meds at the Farmacia in Nogales, Mexico Waited one week then returned for a temporary and now I must wait for 2 1/2 months for the abutment and crown. No pain whatsoever at any time. It's been a seamless, pain-free procedure. I am now a patient for life. Needless to say, there are substantial savings, professional service and I am if you have not noticed, a very happy patient!

Friendly and honest. They never do work that is not requiredFrederick, US, 12 06 18

I have had root canals caps, particles done and the work was done correctly the first time. Great prices. If it wasn't for the pain I am in before my visit I love going there. Friendly and honest. They never do work that is not required. Easy to get to right across the border.

1. Metals used in crowns include gold alloy, other alloys (for example, palladium) or a base-metal alloy (for example, nickel or chromium). Compared with other crown types, less tooth structure needs to be removed with metal crowns, and tooth wear to opposing teeth is kept to a minimum. Metal crowns withstand biting and chewing forces well and probably last the longest in terms of wear down. Also, metal crowns rarely chip or break. The metallic color is the main drawback. Metal crowns are a good choice for out-of-sight molars. 2. Porcelain-fused-to-metal dental crowns can be color matched to your adjacent teeth (unlike the metallic crowns). However, more wearing to the opposing teeth occurs with this crown type compared with metal or resin crowns. The crowns porcelain portion can also chip or break off. Next to all-ceramic crowns, porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns look most like normal teeth. However, sometimes the metal underlying the crowns porcelain can show through as a dark line, especially at the gum line and even more so if your gums recede. These crowns can be a good choice for front or back teeth. 3. All-ceramic or all-porcelain dental crowns provide the best natural color match than any other crown type and may be more suitable for people with metal allergies. However, they are not as strong as porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns and they wear down opposing teeth a little more than metal or resin crowns. All-ceramic crowns are a good choice for front teeth.

We use Captek crowns
Dental Crowns
There are several reasons why one might want to have a tooth crowned. One common indication is where there is substantial tooth missing, either from an accident or from decay. A cap has the ability to hold a weak tooth together so that it can withstand the constant work of chewing. Where remaining tooth is weak, cracked, or just unable to hold a filling, a cap may be indicated.Similarly, when teeth have had root canals they become weaker and more brittle. If they are at risk for fracturing, they should be strengthened with a crown. This can happen when there are large fillings or fractured areas on the root canal tooth. There are some teeth that should always be crowned after a root canal, even if there are not large fillings present. These are molars with multiple roots, where the tooth after finished root canal will be thin between the roots and susceptible to cracking in half.

I would not hesitate to recommend this clinic and this dentist to othersMary, US, 22 03 17

Very knowledgeable, fairly fluent English, explained things well and put me at ease - not easy when dealing with past dental traumas! Had chairside assistant who spoke American English and could translate anything that was not quite clear, or that he wanted to make sure was perfectly translated. Pain medication injections were painless, procedure was done quickly and explanation of exactly what was being done was given as it was carried out. Sterility was followed and filtered water was used. Price for implant was $1,600, all inclusive. Was originally going to also have 2 implants in back molars, but he discovered a jaw fracture where I'd recently had a very traumatic extraction in USA, and those implants cannot be done until it is fully healed. Errs on the side of caution for best outcome - I like that! I interviewed a couple of the top recommended clinics and chose this clinic on the basis of the education and experience of the dentist. The office was clean. They followed the proper procedures to maintain sterility of instruments and used filtered water. The office and chair-side staff spoke mostly fluent English, and Dr Victor was quite fluent, but not afraid to ask his American English speaking assistant to translate if he wanted to make sure I understood something more completely. I am an RN and understand more of the procedures that need to be followed than someone not involved in healthcare. I would not hesitate to recommend this clinic and this dentist to others.
