A wonderful experience. I arrived at this clinic with a medical emergency and acute pain in my premolar, which was visibly moving. I had a root canal treatment at home, at my dentist, and decided to go on vacation to Balchik. But from the first day, the pain became unbearable. With a simple Google search, I found this clinic. Thus, I ended up being treated by Dr. Damian Karashov. I had emotions and pain. But I confess that in my life I have never met a gentler and more gracious doctor. He worked without anesthesia, and I confess, not only did I not feel anything - but he flooded me with a peace and a state of well-being, so much so that I would not have gotten out of the chair. He saved my tooth. A perfect professional, an angel. Bravo to you! Although in Romania we are better in terms of logistics and equipment, you are doctors in the true sense of the word. I popped into this clinic and was able to make an appointment for one week's time. I had a check-up and replacement of an old white filling that had broken. A week later I returned for a full scale and polish with ultrasound. The treatment was performed efficiently and thoroughly and I was really pleased with the results. The dentist, her assistant and a student were friendly and took time to listen to my concerns. I enquired about possible aesthetic procedures and was fully advised about my realistic options. The prices are standard, good value and lower than inferior NHS treatments in the UK. Overall I was impressed and highly recommend Dr Naneva.

Dental cleaning involves removing plaque (soft, sticky, bacteria infested film) and tartar (calculus) deposits that have built up on the teeth over time. Your teeth are continually bathed in saliva which contains calcium and other substances which help strengthen and protect the teeth. While this is a good thing, it also means that we tend to get a build-up of calcium deposits on the teeth. This chalky substance will eventually build up over time, like limescale in a kettle. Usually it is tooth coloured and can easily be mistaken as part of the teeth, but it also can vary from brown to black in colour. If the scale, or calculus (tartar, as dentists like to call it) is allowed to accumulate on the teeth it will unfortunately provide the right conditions for bacteria to thrive next to the gums. The purpose of the cleaning and polishing is basically to leave the surfaces of the teeth clean and smooth so that bacteria are unable to stick to them and you have a better chance of keeping the teeth clean during your regular home care. The professional cleaning of teeth is sometimes referred to as prophylaxis (or prophyfor short). It’s a Greek word which means “to prevent beforehand” – in this case, it helps prevent gum disease. Periodontal disease, an infection of the teeth, gums, and bone that surrounds the teeth, is the number-one cause of adult tooth loss. It begins when plaque, a sticky film of food and bacteria, builds up on your teeth. If plaque isn’t removed, it hardens into calculus, also called tartar. The buildup of plaque and tartar dramatically increases the number of harmful bacteria in your mouth and can result in deepening spaces between the teeth and gums, called pockets. Bacteria trigger the body’s immune system to produce enzymes. These enzymes destroy the bone surrounding the teeth, which ultimately leads to tooth loss. To fight periodontal disease, we need to reduce plaque, tartar, and the number of bacteria in the pockets in your mouth. One device we use to remove calculus from teeth is an ultrasonic scaler. It consists of a wand with a small scaling tip that produces a soft ultrasonic vibration. The small, quick vibrations in combination with a water flow give us a whole new level of effectiveness in calculus removal.
