Great clinic, great staff and cleanMatt, Thailand, 27 11 18I've sweated since puberty. Hot, cold, nervous, active, I drench shirts and soak through pretty much anything.
I've read about Miradry, and although the cost is high, the thought of no longer having to base my wardrobe on what won't show the huge sweat stains on my shirts made it worth it. It is $2000 in Canada, and when I found rattian clinic, their price of $1600 Canadian was perfect.
The clinic was easy to contact, responded to my questions quickly. (I was in Canada and 14 hours behind so do keep time zones in mind) and made it easy to organize an appointment, and the link for the deposit only took a few minutes.
The day of the appointment I was nervous, but I took an Advil an hour before I went and got to the clinic. Tip: wear a loose fitting top, they have shirts to wear during the procedure but a loose fitting top will be easier to put on after. Also the room is air conditioned, and they put a blanket over your core, but if you get cold easily, wear comfy pants and socks.
Shave your armpit two days before going, this gives them a slight outline of where the hair grows but also makes it easy to work in the area. The nurse cleaned and sterilised my armpits then dusted them with a powder that shows wetness. They do require a short running session to map your sweating, so do be prepared to run - 5 mins on a stair master device.
Once the running was over, they map the treatment area with a temporary tattoo grid of lines. It washes off in a day or so.
The procedure itself isn't fun but medical procedures aren't. The doctor used a very advanced machine that automatically injects anaesthetic etc without her having to depress a plunger. It felt like a pinch that went on for a few seconds. The anaesthetic gets injected at spots around your armpit. Be sure to tell the doctor if you feel anything when she tests the site, I had to have a tiny amount injected into one spot at the end. Then the other arm gets done. Once the numbness is complete, they begin using the miradry. It's a slight suction but you don't feel anything.
You do have to keep your arms over your head during the procedure, I'd suggest stretching your shoulders for a few days before.
Once the procedure is done, the doctor will explain the recovery, and you can ask any questions. I would suggest that you ask for pain pills from the doctor but also make sure you have a bottle of ibuprofen gelcaps too.
They provide ice packs and gauze to wrap them in, bring a backpack to carry these after. The recovery was a bit painful. I won't sugar coat it. Once the freezing wears off, it does indeed feel like you have basketballs under your arms.
A few points: They may apply gauze to any points that show a bit of blood, these will stop bleeding pretty quickly, remove the gauze carefully a few hours after the procedure. They wash your armpits lightly with soap and water the same night of your procedure and at least once or twice a day for the first week (and keep going, even without sweat you will get smelly after a day or two!).
I recommend getting an antibacterial ointment like polysporin, one with a light topical anaesthetic is the best. Apply this often all over your armpit, especially after you wash!
You cannot do this too much the first day and as much as possible the next week. Wrap the ice packs with the gauze so that you never have the packs against bare skin or you'll get frostbite. Take the prescription painkillers before bed for the first 2-3 days, and use ibuprofen regularly for comfort.
Overall, procedure took about 3 hours total.
First day is painful, second day was significantly less, from third day on it was very managable with the above tips.
100% worth it, I'm now at day 10, my sweating has been reduced a good 70-80% and I'm in 30 degree heat. Can't wait to go home and get my wardrobe back! If you sweat alot and nothing has worked, this procedure is probably the best and most permenant way to fix it. Great clinic, great staff and clean. A bit hard to find, there is a pizza place out front, go a bit early so you can find it on time for your appt.
