I can wear anything I want, lead a healthy and active lifestyle with my young familyAndrea, UK, 07 09 21I lost over 40kg after weight loss surgery and my body was a mess. I was recommended Dr Ashraf by a British friend who already had a procedure with him with great results. I had never met him and we only communicated via whatsup about the procedures I wanted, cost, accommodation, recovery, etc. This was ongoing for about 6 months before I actually committed to having surgery with him. He was always patient and answered all my queries promptly in a stress-free manner. I left my husband and young children in England and travelled alone to Cairo for an explant, breast lift, breast fat transfer, liposuction and mini abdominoplasty. I met Dr Ashraf in person for the first time the morning of surgery. He was patient and very honest with what the results would be. The anaesthetist, Dr Khaled was so kind and very knowledgable, I never felt a needle going in! I opted for the epidural so my recovery would be much better, I’m so glad I wasn’t under GA. As I was on my own, I stayed in hospital for 6 nights (paying extra) for peace of mind. I could have left on day 4 as I never felt any pain and I was mobile within 24hrs. I had 5 procedures done in a 6hr operation and I was amazed at how quickly I bounced back. The hospital is nice and clean, it has everything you would need in an emergency (ICU, blood bank, etc).
The biggest challenge for me was the language barrier as most nurses speak little English so it was hard to communicate at times. I went to a local hotel for recovery for an extra 2 weeks (Holiday Inn Maadi). I saw Dr Ashraf 4 more times before flying home, for check ups and removal of stitches etc. His assistant Ghada is so helpful and I never felt rushed at his Clinic. After much correspondence and rapport before-during-after surgery, I now consider Dr Ashraf a friend. Tactful, patient, honest and with over 20 years of experience. It’s very important as a patient to understand realistic expectations, this goes hand in hand with the choice of surgeon. I just wanted to go to someone who wouldn’t butcher me, rip me off and then abandon me if things went wrong in a foreign country. I got so much more from him, I’m so grateful for everything. It all went exactly as I planned it without any issues. As someone who has brown skin complexion, I scar terribly bad (as you can see by my hypertrophic gallbladder S scar), but Dr Ashraf’s stitching skills are incredible. My tummy tuck scar is just a flat line, no raised bumps or anything ugly. I ended up not needing to use the silicone sheets I bought to treat the scar. With time, it’ll just be a fine line. I’m now planning a full facelift in the near future as I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The travelling and all that is related to having surgery abroad was completely worth it. I’m now 3 months post-op and I can wear anything I want, lead a healthy and active lifestyle with my young family. I’m truly blessed and so glad to have met Dr Ashraf. I recommend him 100%. I would also recommend foreign patients to stay slightly longer for recovery. This greatly helps the healing process, prevents infections, allows any eventualities to be dealt with promptly.
