Dublin Psychotherapy - Psychology Clinic in Ireland

Dublin Psychotherapy

62 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, D2
Rating from 15 Reviews For the first time ever I felt being a peerLuca, Ireland, 30 Jan 17

I was treated by Marcello from Aug/2013 to Jan/2016: 1.5 years. I was diagnosed Dysthymia and Cyclothymia with bipolar mood. Marcello treated me with cognitive behavioral therapy. I had never thought I would have been able to live ever in a society and I had never thought I would stop going to my therapist. Today I celebrate my first year from my last time at Marcello's: I can say loudly I am able to live on my own, to observe myself, to be aware of what's around me, of the traps of my minds. I can see I am free now, and it took time! It took 2.5 years, but I made it. Today I went back to Marcello's just to say Thank You and to tell him about my current life. For the first time ever I felt being a peer. Thank you, Marcello!

How Therapy Can HelpOur emotions dictate and determine how we see the world. When you have control over your emotions you have control over your behaviour. When we become anxious, distressed, depressed or living in fear, the rational part of our brain is suppressed and the emotional brain takes over. We become time travellers trapped in the past ruminating, worrying, restless and agitated, driving us to despair with guilt, shame, secrets and unresolved business.  Glimpses of the future may be glimpses of catastrophe, hopelessness and emptiness.  As your counsellor I am here to listen to you, to guide you and to bring to your awareness alternative ways of being in the world. Collaborative counselling can bring insight and access to your imagination and your own forgotten inner strengths. You can change your life trajectory. You can find your personal path and spread it with peace, well-being, balance and spiritual wholeness.

What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT?)     Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is brief and time-limited. During the sessions you will learn how to become your own therapist. You will be given the tools to help you become your own person. To take charge of your life. To understand why you, and only you, have brought yourself to this place at this point in time. To accept that everyone is responsible for their own behaviour. To challenge your thoughts and beliefs and see how they shape your views and ultimately your experiences of the world as you perceive it to be. To quote Epictetus, "Men are not moved by things, but by the views which they take of them." In CBT I like to switch the phrase “I’ll believe it when I see it” to “I’ll see it when I believe it”.  This shift in perception raises our awareness. It is only when we have elevated a problem into our awareness and begin to see it in a different light that we can do something about it. We begin to realise and accept that we have choices. We can do something about the problem or do nothing. The choice is ours to take. The decision is ours to make. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy has proven worldwide to be effective in the treatment of many psychological disorders.

True Horizon - Lisa Fitzgerald - Counsellor & Psychotherapist

True Horizon

46 Mountjoy Square, Dublin, D1
Rating from 8 Reviews Fantastic value for moneyAoife, Ireland, 05 Nov 15

Went to counselling for issues around my self-image and feeling insecure. I felt under huge pressure to be 'perfect' and it was beginning to have an impact on my relationships and lead to a lot of stress in work. I would recommend Lisa to anybody. It was fantastic value for money. My first impression of Lisa was very positive. She creates an environment of trust, non judgement and total openness. I talked about things I never really explored before and she challenged my thinking in a kind way when I needed it.

Kinship provides a safe, confidential space where difficulties can be explored in the presence of another—one who offers support and space as you work to become more of your authentic self.Areas of focus include: Depression, anxiety, stress, workplace performance, relationship challenges, transitions, chronic illness, trauma, sexuality, sexual abuse, finding meaning, and more. Some people may begin psychotherapy without a specific problem or issue, but instead with the intention of personal development and achieving their potential. At times we may feel confused, lost, overwhelmed, or dissatisfied for a time before we decide to seek help. It takes courage to ask for support. We encourage the development of effective problem-solving skills to help individuals reach their true potential and begin the process of self-awareness, acceptance, and change. We believe that no two people are exactly alike, which means treatments are tailored to the individual through a Humanistic Integrative Approach. Our therapists use evidence-based methods and are trained to a Master's level. We attend regular supervision in order maintain the highest standard of care.

Family Divorce/Separation €60 - €80
There are many aspects to consider when family life breaks down.  Loss is a central theme for everyone involved.  Children often require help adjusting to a 'new' normal.  With developmental tasks ongoing, changes bring additional stress and challenges.  I have specific training in this area and can offer help to both parents and adolescents during this difficult transition.
Anger Management €60 - €80
Anger is an emotion and like all our emotions it is a form of signal, sending us information.Sometimes we can struggle with our emotions especially when they overwhelm and interrupt our thinking and ability to thrive.Regulating our response to emotions is required in order to attend to the emotion without letting it take over.  I work with clients on their emotional regulation equipping them with the ability to manage emotional responses in a way that empowers and enriches their lives.
Psychotherapist Consultation €60 - €80
Psychotherapy offers the opportunity to better understand ourselves and how we live.  It can be the difference between surviving and thriving. Integrative psychotherapy does not try to fit the client into one type of therapy as it utilises many different therapies and can tailor-fit the therapy to the individual needs of each person.

CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy up to €70
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the important role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. It is based on the idea that our thoughts cause our feelings and behaviors, not external things, like people, situations, and events. The benefit of this fact is that we can change the way we think to feel better even if the situation does not change.

Anger Management €10 - €50
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy focuses on the unconscious processes of the mind which influence all that we do. Each one of us has repressed into our unconscious, memories and feelings that were too painful to bear. This is where the roots of anger are to be found. These repressed experiences continue to exert a powerful but hidden influence on our lives. The power of the unconscious mind can be seen when we wish to change some aspect of our life but find we cannot, when we find ourselves repeating patterns of behaviour which ultimately lead to pain, or even when there seems to be a dull but constant ache in our heart from which we cannot escape.   In the practice of psychoanalytic psychotherapy, access to the unconscious is based on ‘free association’ which is defined as the process of speaking about the thoughts that chance across your mind during a session. As this happens, the client becomes more able to acknowledge and express feelings and ideas that have been deeply buried. By remembering and working through these buried experiences, the client can give new meaning to the pain and suffering of their lives thus moving to mental well-being.
