What is a Dental Implant?

Dental implants are artificial screws made of titanium or zirconium oxide that connect the jawbone and a dental restoration like a crown or denture. They are also called ‘endosseous’ implants or fixtures. They are an artificial tooth root. Once implanted, the implant integrates with the surrounding bone like part of the body. Dental surgeons perform bone grafting procedures to hold the implant in place for patients who do not have enough surrounding bone structure, or graft bone to help connect implants to the maxillary sinuses on either side of the nose when placing dental implants in the upper jaw.

How long does it take to fit a Dental Implant?

The time taken for inserting dental implants depends on the bone structure and needs of each individual patient. Some implant procedures take about 15 minutes while others may take up to two hours. Implant procedures are performed under local anaesthesia. Intravenous sedation is used for the comfort of anxious patients.

How long does it take to recover after getting a Dental Implant?

Recovery time after a dental implant procedure may take four to six weeks or up to 12 weeks for some patients. Patients can travel one day after the insertion of a single dental implant. Patients who require multiple dental implants or supporting surgical procedures should wait for around two weeks before travelling. They should meet the dental surgeon to get a certification of being fit to travel before embarking on their journey.

What should I do after getting a Dental Implant?

Patients should rest and avoid exertion after surgery. They should also avoid vigorously brushing their teeth or rinsing their mouth.

What are the alternatives to Dental Implants?

Alternatives to dental implants include fixed bridges and dentures.

DENTAL IMPLANT: WHY IT MAY BE THE BEST OPTION FOR YOUTooth loss can greatly impact a person’s sense of self-esteem and self-worth; this can have a profound effect on their social and family life, and can even affect productivity at work. Losing your tooth can gradually affect the shape of your face, as the bone of your jaw begins to move inward where the root once was. When an individual tooth is lost, there are several different options. However the one that makes most sense is getting a dental implant. WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTSA dental implant is an artificial tooth root ,usualy made of titanium and lately of zirconium, used to support restorations that resemble a single tooth or a number of teeth. Dental implants can be used to support crowns, implant-supported bridges, dentures and other dental prostheses. The most common reason for hesitation is fear of pain or discomfort during surgery, and concerns that a dental implant procedure are prohibitively expensive. The pain can be addressed either local or general anesthetic which will significantly reduce the pain. In terms of cost dental implants can be a preventive of any further damage so the reward does outweigh the expense long term. REWARD VS. RISKSuccess rates of dental implant procedures are around 97%, and are considered one of the most effective tooth loss repair measures available. Your teeth can be fully restored, with the replacements having no negative effects on the surrounding teeth or gums.

I was impressed with the ambience at the clinicJoy, UK, 13 09 19

I had a very good experience at Bucharest British Dental Place. I was impressed with the ambience at the clinic, the professional assessment and treatment I received. The 3D scans showed other problems, decay in a tooth needing extraction and failed root canal treatment under crowns that needed to be redone, in addition to the two implants and Bridge I had originally planned to have treated. This has proved to be quite expensive but I feel that this is preventative treatment and may prevent failed crowns in the future. I plan to return in October for the crown treatment and next February or March for the implants to be completed. Although it seems expensive, it is cheaper than the UK and I have confidence in Dr Cosmin Teasdale.

The treatment was professional, the clinic was very clean and the staff were very helpfulDavid, UK, 14 10 17

I found favorite clinic online. I needed 2 implants and a bridge plus another bridge connected to my teeth. On the first visit I was met at Otopeni airport by Roxana Basian and I stayed in an apartment by the clinic. The treatment was professional, the clinic was very clean and the staff were very helpful. There was no pain whatsoever on any of the procedures. The second visit was the same as first, the third and final visit to fit the teeth and bridges was really good. It was nearly 22:15 before we finished. I can really recommend favorite dentist to anyone who needs treatment at a fair price. Thanks.

I will not hesitate to go back when I need major work againNicola, UK, 27 10 18

I had work done at Omnia in 2017 by Dr Octavian and I cannot recommend his practice more highly. I am used to an excellent private dentist in the UK and started to research dentists abroad due to the UK costs quoted. If you are considering Omnia, do not hesitate - you are in safe hands. The work was of excellent quality and has since been checked by my UK dentist, who was also impressed. My dental work was fitted in over one weekend and Dr Octavian and his Technician worked late into the evening to make sure they could help me. Nothing was too much trouble, from arranging a car from the airport to a basic but clean bed and breakfast hotel just around the corner from his dental practice. He uses the highest quality materials and has excellent technical skills for implants, bridges etc. I will not hesitate to go back when I need major work again.
