Career Summary
Prof. Dr. Samet Yardımcı graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2003 and completed his General Surgery residency at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital.
In 2008–2009, he trained in cancer surgery and organ transplantation at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, USA. After returning to Turkey, he ranked first in the national subspecialty exam and completed Gastroenterology Surgery training at Türkiye Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital (2009–2012).
He became the youngest Gastroenterology Surgeon in Turkey in 2012, later working at Marmara University Pendik Training and Research Hospital (2012–2018), where he contributed to advanced laparoscopic, obesity and metabolic surgery and helped establish organ transplantation and IBD surgery units. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2017.
He has organized and spoken at numerous international congresses and courses, training many surgeons as observer physicians. He received the Best Young Researcher Award (International Transplantation Congress, 2012) and several patient satisfaction certificates.
From 2018 to 2024, he worked at Medical Park Pendik Hospital, performing obesity surgeries on international patients. In 2022, he was awarded the title of Professor. Since 2024, he continues his clinical and academic work at his own clinic in Istanbul.
He is a member of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Association (Board Member), IFSO, and several national surgical societies. He has authored book chapters and published multiple national and international studies.
His main expertise includes obesity & metabolic surgery, colorectal and gastric cancers, oncological and reflux surgery.
