This year, as I celebrate my 20th year as a plastic surgery consultant, I decided to treat myself to a big gift. I've been in this industry for a while now, and I've seen a lot of surgeries and watched how patients recover after them. As a result, I've picked up a lot of information about facelift surgeries over time, so now I have pretty high standards when it comes to choosing a skilled surgeon. Lately, I noticed my smile lines getting deeper and my cheeks starting to droop, so I figured it was time for a facelift. That's when I found out about Dr. Ryu's Deep Plane Facelift. Luckily, a staff member of Dr. Ryu is a friend of mine, so through her, I met him and decided to go ahead with the surgery. I had been putting it off for a while, but after talking with Dr. Ryu, I made up my mind right away. When my friend, who worked with Dr. Ryu for a while and saw how well his patients did, suggested him to me, it made me feel more at ease. I'm pretty social and have lots of friends and get together often, so I was really worried about how quickly I'd recover after surgery. Surprisingly, right after I got out of the hospital, I went out to eat with a friend and drove to the grocery store like I always do. How? I'm not sure if it's just how my body deals with surgery, but I didn't have any bruising and the swelling wasn't too bad, so I felt fine going out. Apart from a bit of swelling, I didn't feel any pain and it was almost surprising how normal I felt after such a major surgery. It's been 20 days since the operation. The scars around my ears are getting lighter, and I can feel the skin becoming softer as time goes on. I can't wait to see how I'll look in a month or three months as I start to look more natural and youthful. Happy days ahead for sure! Anyone who's curious about Deep Plane Facelift would already know. When you look at before-and-after photos on Instagram, you'll mostly see pictures taken right after surgery, and it's not common to come across photos from six months or longer after surgery. I plan to regularly post my photos and document my adventures. This journey is pretty awesome!
