That being said, Dr. Doyle will use liposuction during the abdominoplasty procedure to help with final contouring. Typically an abdominoplasty begins with an incision made low on the abdomen, at about the same level as the pubic area and usually extends from the hip bone to hip bone. The skin and muscle are them manimupated and contoured to create the best result. The procedure takes between 2 and 3 hours under general anaesthetic and usually involves an overnight stay in hospital.  Patients can often return to work 2-3 weeks after surgery depending on the type of work done.  Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for 6 weeks. Abdominoplasty is best done when at your ideal weight.
