Focal deposits of fatty tissue can be removed from hips, thighs, abdomen, neck / chin, arms or chest. The goal is to improve shape and figure, and is not intended as a weight loss technique. Everyone stores fat differently and some people find that even at a normal or low body weight they have bulges or pockets of fat which can cause clothing to fit poorly or concerns about body image. Liposuction uses a vacuum and thin tubes to remove fat from problematic areas. To determine if liposuction is appropriate for you, Mr Adams performs a detailed assessment and examination. Liposuction can be used to improve the results of other techniques such as abdominoplasty or breast reduction surgery. The complications of liposuction include irregular or lumpy areas, residual fatty deposits, hollows or grooves; and (rarely) injury to the body below the fat.
